all day in hospital

The birthday yesterday went very well, there was a new co worker to spent the evening with me on the group to see if he would like to work with us,and he was very excited about the atmosphere which was really open and good last night. I liked him immediately because of his nice friendly and open character,so it was a very busy but heartwarming evening.

Today i went to my mother in amsterdam to go to the hospital with her .She had to have an investigation of her abdomen that would take t

Breakfast for the neighbors

I have decided to host a pancake breakfast for my neighborhood. It is small enough that it shouldn't get out of control and pancakes are a pretty easy thing to make. Just finished the invites and will deliver them tonight! It will be fun to see just how many people come. The 10 day forecast looks dry but chilly so all should be good. Yeah!

Day 8: birds and butterflies

Today I saw that there was much bread left over, so I fed the birds in the garden. They also liked to bathe in the water on the roof of our garden shed. I enjoy watching them. Since I am planning a blog on butterflies I also took some photographs and was delighted to see many butterflies, not only the white ones which come to our garden a lot but also others. It seems like there are less butterflies this year, but I always feel so happy when I see them. There is a Dutch children's rhyme about be… Continue

Day 7: The day off

Today my son was at home since the teachers had to learn things themselves. I decided to really have the day off and went biking with him. Since we bought his new bike, about a month ago he is so enthusiastic that it is sometimes scary. The nicest thing was to race up the dyke and then down again. Just for fun we did it again on our way back. Another gift - some eggplants which we are not that fond of - I offered to a friend, although she has not yet come round to get them (they look very nice r… Continue

Day Two - Thursday, September 2

My giving opportunity jumped right into my lap today. My parents have been storing a stove and refrigerator for me for a few years, and they called to ask me if I'd sell the appliances to someone who needs them.

I said the recipients can have the items for free! Better that the stove and refrigerator be used by someone who needs them than collecting dust in my parents' basement!

Humility (Day 9 Round 8)

My give was to thank my pastor for a wonderful sermon on humility on Sunday. Then, this week, I saw humility in action. I did a project at work that I thought was above and beyond the scope of what I was expected to do and I expected more praise than I received.

Then, I was reading a book and found this quote below: (which i believe is used in AA and is cited as "anonymous")

Round 3 - Day 15 (September 1, 2010) - A Gift to Myself

September is my birthday month so on its first day, I decided to gift myself by signing up for Boot Camp. Two friends of mine told me about this deal and they were very enthusiastic about the program and about this personal trainer. They said that he was giving 50% off his regular rate, the first time ever and the only time that he will be doing this to the "Inner Circle," which is family and friends. I wanted to see it first so I attended the session. Mind you, the session is at 5:00 - 6:00 in… Continue
