Please DO send rocks that are small enough to hold in one hand or put in a pocket. Light, flat rocks about palm size are great. DON'T send huge rocks because they are expensive to ship.
DON'T forget to take pictures of your rocks and post them in your blog on Sept 29h to share them with the rest of our community.

I've been giving decorated rocks for years to my associates at work -- it's interesting when I visit one of our 144 retail locations how many of my rocks I see on desks, bookshelves, etc. I can't believe that people love them so much, but they do. I got the idea from my twin daughters. When they were around 10 years old, they decorated two rocks and gave them to me for Mothers Day as they didn't have any money to buy me a present. I still have them and they are now 23 years old and seniors in college! Great gifts.
Question: Will you be accepting / wanting the rocks throughout the year? I sent some in last week, but my Brownie Girl Scout Troup will be meeting on September 29th and will do rocks as one of their projects that day. I plan to use the rocks as a fill in activitiy throughout the year and would like to suggest to the girls that we make this a troup project to support 29 Gifts. Please let me know if this is a workable idea.
My typo! ROTFL=Rolling on the floor laughing!
Comment by Valerie (wwt) on September 15, 2011 at 5:53pm Sharon & Mary,
Thanks for the clarification about the pain but what I actually was asking was what kind of paint do you use for these projects. Sharon, at first I had no idea what FOTFL meant, but I just figured it out now. I guess it did sound kind of funny when you think of it. Glad my typo gave you some laughs.
Please Ann, post the directions in a new (discussion on the front page) in the giving tips category!
I sure want to know these!!!

My sister in law and I had a blast creating the rocks. I will try to add picutres later. Since we were doing some decupage (modpoge) projects we decided to try modpoging pictures and sayings cut from magazines or scrapbooking pages onto the rocks. They turned out awsome! (If anyone wants more info on the "tricks" we learned in the process, please let me know. We had fun giving the rocks out at a community event.
FOTFL!
No pain Val, just sahrpies and little smooth river rocks from the craft store~!
LOL - no pain, just paint pens, Valerie - I'm assuming you meant paint... :-)
You can also use permanent markers, pictures and glue, and anything else you can think of. We even used some foam and glitter stickers on some.
