I've been in contact with two orphanages over the years who both need help desperately. You can send whatever you'd like donations, handwritten cards, money, whatever.
The first one is:
Hope Runs Donations
2831 Prince St.
Berkeley, CA 94705
Their website is:
http://www.hoperuns.org/
They work with Tumaini Children's Home in Kenya and have expanded their work now into Tanzania.
The second one is:
The Gan Sabra Society
c/o Lucy M.
H. No. F B/36 Zonuam
Aizawl, 796009
Mizoram, INDIA
Their website is a blog that I set up:
http://gansabra.blogspot.com/.
The children are severely affected through AIDS, whether it be contracting it or loosing parents. The lifespan for the children like this in this remote part of India is lucky to get to the age of 12 I'm afraid. The orphanage is in huge need for absolutely anything: clothes, toys, blankets, kitchen supplies, school and art supplies, bubbles--they love bubbles. When it comes to Toys and blankets please make sure they are easily handwashable/hygenic as they don't have a washing machine and immune systems are low. They also can use words of encouragement, drawings from other children, the list is endless.
Also, if you have ideas about easy ways to set up worldwide donations for them when they don't have enough computer skills to open up paypal accounts. Also, web designers out there who might be willing to do a website that is easily updatable and can be linked to the blog I've done.
Anyway, lots of opportunities to give to these two places for a long time to come.
