Hello! I am Gianna Jasinski, current high school junior and I am a teen giver whose ambition is to spread the 29 Day Challenge to youths! My interests include swimming and playing the piano.
I wrote this book in eighth grade and it is a compilation of the research I gathered after completing the 29 Day Challenge in three middle schools across Rhode Island. Working with my mentor, Kevin Regan, I contacted the San Miguel school, St. Philip's school and the religious education program at St. Philip's. I worked the middle schoolers from these schools to take the 29 Day Challenge and to jot down each gift they gave, every day, in their log books provided. In total, I had about over 100 students complete the challenge and later met with a few students in particular to hear one gift that changed them. Each chapter of my book is focused on that gift each student chose to share with me.
Overall, students did feel transformed after the challenge and found they were able to focus on others more than themselves. The middle schoolers I worked with described that they felt more compassionate and warm-hearted and wanted to put themselves in front of others. The 29 Day Challenge has proved to be a great experience not only for adults, but also for teens. Currently I am working with Cami Walker to brainstorm ways we can make teens more aware of the gifts they have to share.
If anyone has teens that they would like to take the challenge and become more involved, please let them know about my book and have them read it! It is amazing to hear about what other people their age have done and what they, themselves, are capable of. Also, please check out the teen group under "groups" at the top of the website, where teens can blog about experiences and provide advice to other givers.
Love and light
