29-Day Giving Challenge

This was posted by a European Bookcrosser recently, and I asked her permission to share it here. She thought it would be really nice to spread the request on 29gifts so that more people could participate. I sent my email to Mary this morning via a free Christmas e-card on hallmark.com. I set the date for delivery to Dec. 24, but Ana tells me any day in Dec. will be fine. Here's the original post:

I've just received a message from my friend Mary who lives in Michigan.
She's really a great woman, very good and very brave. She's now going through a difficult time. Her husband lost his job with an automobile company, then was lucky to find another but several hundred miles from home. He can only come home on the week-ends and can't stay very long. Her son is away at university and she's left all alone at home with her disabled daughter.
She also has an ailing father that she worries about. All in all, right now, her life is no bed of roses.

I wish I could do something for her but it's not very easy from across the Atlantic. So I came up with this idea. I created a gmail account for her and I'm asking my friends from around the world to send her a virtual Christmas card. A paper card would be nicer but I don't feel at liberty to give her address and having people from, say, the US send me a card to send back to the US seems a bit much.

As you're all quite a nice generous lot I was wondering whether some of you would like to join in. The email address to use is maryinmichigan@gmail.com
We might even get her interested in Bookcrossing. She's quite a reader and a cultured person.

Once we get close to Christmas I shall send her a message with the account information and she'll get the surprise of- hopefully- many cards from around the world.

Thank you in advance to all the kind souls,
Anaonthenet
