Catnip toy idea
My children's pre-school did this a few years ago during their Holiday Open House. At the potluck, each classroom had a different activity - making tied-fleece lap blankets for nursing home residents, canned good building (food later went to a food pantry), and catnip socks. Families were asked to bring their solo socks to school since we all have at least a couple of those.
It was an easy, family-friendly project. The little ones scooped the catnip into the sock and added the fiberfill. Older siblings, parents, and teachers could tie off the end. These were donated to the humane society and to a local vet's office.
We are thinking of doing something similar for our Girl Scout troop.

Brilliant idea! I LOVE the simplicity and usefulness of this project! I'm making some for my cats and passing on to my animal rescue groups and feline-loving family and friends. Think I'll also add bunched up heavy paper or plastic grocery bags - they love the sound. I'm going to tie mine off with leather shoestrings, for an added chewing treat.
