Hello 29Gifters,
Who taught you to read?
What was your favorite book when you were a kid?
Here's a heart-full gifting opportunity to help kids read.
The
Lullalee non-profit gifts early reading programs to inner-city kids, including books to keep. Books at home build personal libraries and encourage family reading time. Lullalee's founder, LeeAnn Butler-Owens, tells stories of kids coming in contact with books for the first time through Lullalee. Lullalee gives teddy bears to kids as Reading Buddies; kids read to their bears in partnership with early childhood education students. Lullalee has gifted books to Hurricane Katrina survivors, to kids in Africa, and gives celebrations to kids in hospitals.
What has moved LeeAnn to this passionate level of generosity?
LeeAnn was a flight attendant during 9/11. Her loss of friends and colleagues prompted her to rededicate her life to children's literacy. The name Lullalee comes from Lullaby plus Lee (for LeeAnn).

There's a
festive fundraiser for Lullalee, Art for Literacy, tomorrow, 11/22 at 7p at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. With all the talk of troubled economy, ticket sales need our help and donations online are welcomed with open arms.
For the fundraiser, I have 2 for 1 tickets (normally $125). There will be a silent Art auction and a dashing performance by Louis Prima, Jr. Robert Strong the Comedy Magician is MC. I'll be there as the fabulous, funny painter Fifi LaFete.

If you gift Lullalee, please send me a note so I can share with LeeAnn the kindred generosity of 29Gifters.
Thank you!
