29-Day Giving Challenge

We have named May HEALTH MONTH here at 29 Gifts. We encourage you to do at least one thing to support your health each day. Take a walk. Eat something green. Drink an extra glass of water. Feel free to leave other simple health tips on this discussion string so we can share ideas.

I will personally be doing a 29-Day Cleanse. I do a cleanse every spring, though it is different every year. I clean my diet up, walk and exercise more and try to slow down and get more rest and "me" time.

To help encourage myself and others to get moving and improve our health, I have scheduled a Wellness Walk in my current home town (Kimball, NE) and one in Denver Colorado. I may also do one in LA and Chicago since I will be both places the end of the month. I'll likely bring something a little special that we can give away to people as we walk. Hi I belong to FLYLADY and one of her suggestions that I just love is using a timer. I hate the kitchen cleanup. Washing counters, scraping pots and fry pans and loading and unloading the dishwasher. Now it is a game for me called beat the timer. For any chore that has to get done; turn on your timer for ten minutes and see how quickly you can get it done before you hear the "BING!" of your timer go off. As a single Mom I am sure you are overwhelmed so you have to try and find ways to get things done quickly and to make it fun. The kids could even help too.
I walked today ~it was a beautiful day so I walked slow to enjoy the sights and sounds.
I also got 7 chickens and 2 duckling which both make me laugh...with joy.

I have been walking my three big dogs twice a day, and going to the gym on Monday, Wed and Fri from 9:30-11:00. I am beginning to feel it, and hope it becomes a habit!
I am committed to walking a little longer, eatting more fruits and vetgs and taking
better care of myself.
I have been eating better, and I take the time out to eat breakfest...

Last month saw me in hospital twice with high BP & host of other stuff, so now when I feel the need to rest, I do. As a caregiver, I'm now concentrating on my care and I've already lost 8 pounds! WOO HOO. Sadly, I missed the 2010 Cleanse and Renew class I registered for, but will take to heart everything on the site.

I'm in the midst of hosting a wellness walk here in Houston (yes, in this HEAT).

Did I mention I LOST 8 POUNDS????

I FOUND it, plus another 22-!
I've been running, walking and doing lunges 6 days a week to get back in shape. I haven't lost any weight...actually gained a few pounds. My husband said its muscle...I sure hope he's right (lol).
