Send a keyring to Ryan who has Cystic Fibrosis and leave a pin on the virtual map

If you can please send a keyring to 16 year old Ryan who has Cystic Fibrosis and then leave your mark on our map so we can see where he gets a keyring from http://www.postpals.co.uk/content.php?page=32

He is having a rough time at the moment (his page is going to be updated in the next couple of days) and loves collecting keyrings and receiving post so I'm hoping we can get him some keyrings sent from around the world :)

Thank you :) He has had 3 so far (one from me), his latest update is

Ryan managed to recover in time for his 16th birthday and his Dad took him and a few mates out to the Cinema to see Avatar followed by a McDonalds (only thing Ryan enjoys eating at the moment). After that, two of his mates stayed over and they played on the Xbox for most of the night. Many thanks to everyone who sent birthday cards and wishes to Ryan.

Ryan also had a great Christmas Day and was in high spirits. We had his Nan and Grandad over for the day and he was his usual cheeky self. However, on Boxing Day Ryan coughed up some blood. It was only a small amount so I decided just to monitor him giving him extra nebulised drugs. That evening Ryan started coughing up lots of blood accompanied by chest pain and getting really stressed. I contacted the Children's Assessment unit and was told to get him to hospital as soon as possible. We have unlimited open access to the hospital so it saves time as we don't have to go through A&E. After an x-ray and doctors examination, Ryan was admitted to hospital. His port was accessed and IVS were started. The doctor said the blood was most probably due to inflammation and infection (Ryan's lungs are colonised with Pseudomonas plus he had a Streptococcus pneumoniae infection).

Ryan was comfortable during the night despite still coughing up blood. He was discharged the following evening as I can administer his IV antibiotics at home for the next two weeks. The blood stopped after three days but at every cough we all make sure Ryan is ok. He has a follow up appointment in a week’s time. Coughing up blood is quite common in patients with CF, however this is the first time it has happened to Ryan and it’s very scary to be honest. We’re hoping to get a few answers at his review

I have the perfect vintage, 'new/never used' keyring to send to Ryan from Texas. It's from a jobsite I worked on - the South Texas Nuclear Project between Bay City and Matagorda, TX - my first job in 1986 after graduating from college. Shipping out later today.

I also found a keyring from American Red Cross, where I used to work, and a shark bottle opener/keyring and baseball cap with a shark on it - both from Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. We went there for my birthday this year. So those went with the STNP keyring. Hope Ryan enjoys them.

I'm going to pass this info about Ryan on to a student of mine, Petr. His son has CF, and I think it be great for them (Petr and his son) to send Ryan a keyring and letter from the Czech Republic. Thanks for sharing this info.

Ryan, a key ring is on its way from Asheville, NC. We're nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a beautiful place. I'm sending you positive thoughts and healing prayers. Godspeed.

Lynne, that is wonderful you wrote to you cousins. It is easy to get out of touch with relatives who don't live near us. I know I have many all over the US that i have lost touch with. Also, gifting food is a favorite of mine. Yummy muffins sound gr…

I was shocked as I said. It was a local library book club and even the librarian called the book whiny and greedy. It was interesting how people can put a nagative spin on anything. I definately learned so much about my own attitude and how it appea…
