29-Day Giving Challenge

I have been practicing a very simple formula for abundance for some time now. Friday, March 20, 2010 marked the two-year anniversary of my very first gift.

This simple formula I mention is:
God Consciousness + Gratitude + Giving = Abundance

When I say God Consciousness, I mean actively engaging in some form of spiritual practice each day -- prayer, meditation, spiritual study, yoga, writing, making art, singing, dancing, hiking in nature... or anything else that feels spiritual to you.

Gratitude is taking time each day to acknowledge the things you feel blessed with. I find that when I focus on my blessings, they expand.

Then there is the third "G" -- Giving. For me this means making a mindful effort to be of service to another person each day. Sometimes it means listening to someone who needs a witness, or offering a "thing" to someone or money to a cause that matters to me. Other times my gifts are kind words or a simple smile.

===================================
I want to remind you all to STAY OPEN TO RECEIVE as you continue your personal Giving Challenge. Part of the larger intention of this experiment is to help increase the field of abundance on the entire planet – and that means for you as well!

So today, give some great things from your heart... without expecting anything specific in return, and keep your heart open to receive something amazing back from the universe.

I'd love to hear any insights you've all gained about how the giving challenge has changed your ability to receive abundance. I would also love to hear about any unexpected gifts you've been given.

Peace and light to you all!

I like it,
God Consciousness + Gratitude + Giving = Abundance
How the giving challenge has changed my ability to receive abundance...
Well, I think I was always giving and always receiving. What's changed is my awareness of it. I now am aware of the many times I give throughout each day ... knowing what I've given makes me feel good. I've also come to notice the "little things" I receive (and, of course, the big things too) ... it makes me more appreciative of everything which in return brings me a more positive attitude (and happiness). That's the abundance: feeling good about what I've given and a positive attitude due to recognition of what I receive.
Cami, as always, I find more to think about in what you write. My first give today is that simple one of a thank you. We can't actually alter the sizeof thank yous or give them from anywhere other than our hearts but I want to give a big, heartfelt thank you to you for what you started in the world after taking Mbali's prescription. I've been wondering how many millions of people have been touched by conscious giving as a result of what you started. Today alone if there are 4,000 of us who each make just one conscious gift that is ONE MILLION, FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY THOUSAND GIFTS! Now, if we think about it, we know that it's usually a case of recognising several gifts each day. Let's imagine that 4,000 of us each recognise three gifts each day for a week - thirty million, six hundred and sixty thousand gifts - or in the next four weeks that's one hundred and twenty-two million, six hundred and forty thousand gifts or 1,594,320,000 by this time next year, more than one and a half billion from one little step.

I used the word prescription when I talked about you starting this movement and that was deliberate. I recognise each gift as a positive step to health whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual. Each gift is contributing to our health as individuals, to the health of the recipients and thus our local communities, our nations and our world. The desire to see changes in our world that make people's lives better is becoming more and more apparent and the growth of communities like ours is evidence of that. Cami, in listening to and acting upon Mbali's words you are spreading blessings.
I LOVE the Math!
I had to Laugh out Loud, it is amazing, when we see the whole thing thru the different perspective.
Awesome analogy.
Thanks!

Mbali
thanks for sharing about your gives (and receives)!
hi cami, i'm only 14 days into my first round and am having a wonderful time. i made a conscious decision to not look for things coming back to me and to not expect, but to just give. i've only been giving little things, cakes for the neighbours consolation to those that need it, small homemade gifts etc. this weekend i have received a most wonderful gift back from the universe! i found a wonderful on line course being run by a photographer, the course is a photographic self discovery course with writing tasks to complement the self portraits. i felt ready to do this course, just like i was ready to start this challenge, but after looking at finances - husband just been made redundant :( - i couldn't justify the expense so wrote to the lady running the course asking when the next one would be run so i could then sign up for that. well, she wrote back to me and asked if she could gift the course fee to me!!! i am still in shock (and grinning madly) over this amazing generosity on her part and how the universe can work in such strange and wonderful ways :)) before i received this wonderful gift i'd been reflecting on how warm and fuzzy this giving makes me feel and how very addictive it is :) so thank you for setting up this wonderful network and spreading the word, i really think the planet will greatly benefit :) hugs, xox
This is a wonderful story. Thanks so much for sharing it. Enjoy your class!!

I have come back to this formula again this week, reviving my meditation practice which has been a bit lax of late. Lately, prayer has been easier for me, but meditation has been a challenge. I've been experimenting by trying to turn everyday activities into a meditation. Like today, I decided to clean the tile in our shower, but did it very slowly and mindfully as if each swipe of my sponge was connecting me to the divine source. It was very peaceful and serene and turned an activity that I normally despise into something quite enjoyable.
Active meditation can be a wonderful thing. I often take a conscious walk in the afternoons, just to feel My Self again.
Right now, though, I know I need a still moment for My Self. I'm so lax in my own meditations and prayers and general good health practices that I'm feeling tired and out of touch. I believe I will gift myself a conscious Resting moment some time in the next couple of days.
Cami, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful message and recipe. I can not tell you how much this has impacted my life in such a positive way. Thank you for this gift! xoKimberly
