29Gifts Fifth Poetry Contest –
'Spring Cleaning' is the THEME ! Format: “Acrostic” POETRY STYLE;
using “Onomatopoeia” word for the SUBJECT line (title)!
DESCRIPTION:
‘Spring Cleaning’ can mean home, yard, office, or self (body, mind, or spirit), ETC.
Acrostic is defined as “a poem in which the first letters of each line when read
vertically spell out a word, which is the subject line”.
Onomatopoeia is defined as “the formation of words whose sound is imitative of the sound
of the noise or action designated, such as hiss, buzz, and bang”.
FUN POEM EXAMPLE:
Whoosh!
Winter woes got you down?
Heave-ho!
Open windows, open doors -
Out they go!
Sweeping done -
Happy you, having fun!

JUDGING:
Entries will be judged by winners of the preceding contest and Linda, 29Gifts Poetry Club Moderator, based on the number of positive responses given to each poem, as well as the poem's quality and adherence to the Acrostic form and contest details. All members and participants are invited and encouraged to comment on poetry contest submissions.
