Hi just joined.. I had been in a creative writing class once a week for 5 years, then I moved clear across the country and I have basically put my writing brain on hold. I can't find a weekly class near me, only a once a month writing group that I have to drive a good ways to. I am not motivated without other writers keeping me going.
Comment by Ariana Palmieri on March 14, 2012 at 2:15pm Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a really nice website that could help you come up with ideas for writing short stories, or anything really! It's fun, interactive, and very helpful! Enjoy, and keep writing! :D ~Ariana

Comment by Sock Monkey Mommy on January 21, 2012 at 2:40pm I am a writer. I have finally decided to call myself that. It took 20 years to call myself a musician, so I guess it's okay that it took even longer to say I am a writer.

Hello, I am new to this group and the 29 gift challenge, and I just wanted to say hi. I look forward to getting to know great people, and finding support through healthy inspiration. I hope everybody is getting excited about a great new year as I am.
Comment by Barbara Quin - Prayer Cafe Mgr on November 12, 2011 at 2:15pm AmyH - there is probably a writers' guild where you are, perhaps several, like CathyC says - the writers' guild will be for writing in general, but there are also groups for romance, teen/young adult, science fiction, mystery, etc., even poetry. Check with your local library or college literary department to find out what's going on in your area. Also, check local book stores for fliers about meetings, etc.
Also, check out the websites for your favorite writers and do internet search for writers groups in your city or town. You'll find something great!
Good luck and keep writing!
Amy - what type of writing are you doing? Depending up the genre, there is probably an organization already together to help you. I write young adult - www.scbwi.org and www.scbwiflorida.com are very helpful to me. Writing romance? Romance Writers of America is an excellent organization. Mystery? there is an organization for that as well.
I have found that being in critique groups is very useful. It helps in goal setting and takes what is usually a solo activity and brings it into a group.
I am new to writing (with purpose) and to this group. Can anyone recommend other websites for writers that can help with motivation, support, or publishing?
Comment by Beth Andersen on October 6, 2011 at 12:55pm I am new to this group. My sister and I are both writing books. We put ourselves on a one-year schedule and have two well-published mentors helping us. Wish us luck! And double back at you!!!!
