29-Day Giving Challenge

Project #1 - St. Luke's Hospital Women's & Children's Center- Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I sent this link today to the administrative assistant that sparked this entire idea! I wanted to make sure she knew that I didn't forget about her as well to show her what her email has created :)! Please let me know if you are in the process of sending/making anymore blankets for this first batch. I would be more than happy to take some of my blankets out and send them to South Africa. My 29 gift tags with the website on them should be attached by ribbon this weekend (fingers crossed)! The blankets have set up shop in my entire dining room and are beginning to fall off of the cabinet they are on since there are so many of them! Once I attach the pretty tags to the actual blankets that Mary is in the process of finding out about then my husband and I will take over all of the blankets (so he can take pictures)! Did I mention how proud I was of all of you today??? BECAUSE I AM!

i'm proud of you, too Allie. Hugs, Dawn
Last Thursday before I hit the road for my long 20 hour drive back to Jersey, my mom and I took 29 blankets over to St. Lukes to meet Ms. Lisa Kirk! It took quite a bit of time to get 29 blankets into a large enough bag! My mom ended up donating a great big bag to us to use to deliver the blankets and leave them at the hospital :). Lisa and another woman (I don't remember her name) met us out in the lobby and quickly began to look through the blankets commenting on each one and loving them all the same. The told us that the nurses would be so happy about them and would be looking through them once they went into the back. They took pictures with me and took pictures of the blankets. My mom was there so she took pictures too. We didn't say much to one another but I can assure you that they were incredibly grateful and I am not sure there was really much to say about the topic. You can all sleep well tonight knowing that we just made 29 familie's dark days just a little bit brighter.
pictures posted later tonight...

blankets all lined up and ready to go on the dining room table!
Ladies, I could not be prouder!!!! You all did such a wonderful thing, you all deserve a halo!!!

Front and back of the tags attached to the blankets...Each blanket was stamped, printed on, and written on...I punched a whole in each one and attached a brad to it..then threaded ribbon through it...blankets were rolled and the ribbon was tied around it...Each blanket says an angel slept here, our group's name, and the website.

Each bag holds 29 blankets...yes, I have an entire bag of blankets that I knitted myself and am in the process of finding another hospital to take them near me :)!

The outside of the building..

another picture of the blankets...can you find yours?

me and the nurses...

How beautiful Allie! All that the Ladies have done is for such a wonderful cause~Bless you all! :o)
