29-Day Giving Challenge

Do you have some recommended reading for us?

Is there a book that has really had an impact on you, made a difference in your life?

We're hoping to get recommendations for some truly inspirational life-changing books.
Of course, some "just for fun" books are welcome too.

I'll second The Shack as being a book that I would recommend to anyone. It has many deep messages, one of them being hope, as well as being entertaining, despite some of the events of the story.
I third The Shack. i think everyone should read this book.
I have read and re-read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle several times. I keep it on my nightstand, for nights when I need to refocus. I know his newest book was promoted by Oprah and got lots of press (A New Earth), but The Power of Now is more immediately useful to me.
The following is from a blog post by Annette; she said I could go ahead and share it with our book club.

"I picked up a book the other day entitled 1001 Ways To Do Good.....I like these kind of books at times because they can be opened on any page and read in any order you choose....It has nice ideas in it.....Like it says..."you'll discover that kindness is indeed its own reward!" It shows many ways to truly make the world a better place and is broken down under four major headings: Do Good Globally, Do Good Locally, Do Good Around You...and Do Good for Yourself....author is Meera Lester if anyone's interested....I picked it up in paperback for 10 dollars..."
You must read Tomato Girl by Jayne Pupek. I was assigned to review this book in August right before its release. I read in galley and fell in love. I must confess I was exposed to this novel during the writing. Jayne belongs to my writing group so I'm tiny bit bias, but you will love the read.
Hi Ann, hope you're doing just fine! can you share some more details please? is it a novel... or...??
Yes, please tell us more about Tomato Girl and/or Jayne Pupek.  I'm always happy to find new authors, and/or support authors/books in their "infancy" - one of the few time I'll buy new instead of used books, but I do always have to wait for paperback edition, because of my habit of reading in bed, and falling asleep with the book in bed, and wedging it under my sleeping husband while I sleep - oops!  Peace & have a great day!
I loved the book The Untethered Soul: the Journey Beyond Yourself so much that as soon as I finished it I picked it up and read it again. I would describe it as a book on awakening, which I am always drawn to. It includes straightforward step by step suggestions for being more conscious of our own stuff, and how to easily let go of that which holds us back. Plus lots more! The author's perspective leads me to believe that he is wide awake himself.
I really really really recommend "Your Best Life Now" by Joel Osteen, I just love reading it. Great help in difficult times.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
I've read it, and I know I liked it -but can't really remember much about it ... maybe should reread it, but there is always a stack of books that I'm meaning to get into.
I love your eclectic reading taste:)
