29-Day Giving Challenge

This author has changed my life. I have all of her books and I read them over and over again. The language is beautiful and the stories are uplifting and heart-wrenching. Real life. She writes mostly about India and Indian immigrants who wind up in San Jose, and San Francisco. Has anybody ever read anything by her? Does anyone share my love of her work?

Wow - she teaches Creative Writing at University of Houston, my alma mater and former employer. I live about 10 minutes from UH. I may just have to go visit this incredible woman!

Chitra on PBS, Greatest Poems of All Time, Aug 1 & Aug 6

Friends,

I'll be on PBS (channel 8) in Houston, doing a show on the importance
and wonders of poetry, titled The Greatest Poems of all time, with the
wonderful Patti Gras on Living Smart, Sun August 1st at 3pm. We will
read and discuss what we consider to be some of the world's greatest &
most inspirational poems, including work by Tagore, Neruda and Gibran.

The show will re air the following Friday at 10pm CST, August 6th.

The purpose of the show is to demystify poetry and demonstrate how
deeply it speaks to the soul, and how important it is to include it in
our lives.

The show is appropriate for adolescents as well as adults, so I hope
you will pass this message on to young people.
