29-Day Giving Challenge

As soon as Cami's Book is available, I want it.
And once I've read it, I'll obviously want to discuss it here.

Cami's book is Titled 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life

For those of you who don't know, Cami Walker created this online giving challenge. MS was taking a toll on Cami, physically and mentally, when a friend suggested she give something away every day for 29 days.

the gift i gave that was the hardest to part with was the one when i gave my understanding and support to my husband when he decided to get rid of the Harley. it's hard to explain, but it was like giving up my identity. from the time i was 21 until then ( i was 48 when this happened), i thought of myself primarily as a "biker chick". it was really wrenching to lose that.

as for some gifts being more pure than others, i'm not sure. i do know that when i give with a feeling of resentment, it doesn't feel like it's a "real" give to me. maybe it has to do with motivation?
I remember that give, Dawn ... parting with the Harley ... great gift to your husband.

Yeah, maybe how pure the gift does have to do with motivation.
I don't think using a gift as a tax write-off makes it less of a gift, but maybe if your only motivation for the gift was the tax benefits then it would be less ...
I think of a tax deduction as an added gift to myself - icing on the cake, if you will. Even though I've been unemployed for over a year and money is tight, I have no problem letting go of money (which my husband does't understand at all).

Being an impatient person, I think my hardest give was giving my full time and attention to an acquaintence who negatively drained my energy. At first it was stressful, but turned out to be a great conversation. I realized after that talk that I was the one allowing her to take my energy in the past, leaving me drained and resentful. As often the case during the 29-Day Challenge, I received an unexpected gift, too.
seems whenever we give we always receive SOMETHING in return ... even if it is just the satisfaction of knowing what we gave/the warm fuzzy feeling that can sometimes give you.

I don't know what my hardest give was.
Actually, it often seems harder for me to give to myself than to give to others .... so some of those things like giving myself forgiveness were hard.
The hardest thing for me to give someone else??? ..... maybe I'll get back to you on that one.
Ha! It was over to soon ... maybe someday there'll be a sequel : )

I am glad the book gave you some comfort and strength.
Keep focusing on the positive.

Still, I do hope you find out what the health problem is ... but until then (and after), positivity always helps everyone
I really love this book. It's so heartfelt and inspiring. I'm glad she took the time to put it all down and share it with others. This is actually the first book I ever recall wanting to read over again.
