29-Day Giving Challenge

I just finished reading the book "Friendship Bread" by Darien Gee. It is a beautifully written book about the power of friendship and how a common cause can bring people together and to look beyond themselves. I would definitely recommend it. The recipes are great too....an added bonus. Please let me know what you think if you have read it.  :)

I read the book a few months ago -- just saw it at the library and picked it up on a chance.  Sometimes I just want to read as an escape and at those times I am particularly drawn to uplifting books about friendship.  Friendship Bread fit this description perfectly.  The book is also a great example of what 29 Gifts is all about -- a small gift by one person started a chain reaction that touched an ever widening circle in a positive way.

I think so too, Ann! She has written another book with some of the characters from "Friendship Bread". It's called "Memory Keeping" and is due out later this year. It's definitely on my "to read" list.

I can hardly wait.  Is the author fairly new in the literary world?

I have just picked up the book at the library. So far I am enjoying it but haven't' gotten to far.  If it moves me I am going to not only start the friendship bread going again but with a copy of the book.

I am also currently reading it and 29 Gifts.  29 Gifts goes everywhere and Friendship Bread is my evening read.  I am so grateful that I stumbled on this web site!

I am still reading "Friendship Bread" but expect to be finished at the end of the night.  I just love the characters and wish I could have a friendship like that.  After moving from Pennsylvania to Florida I just never had the same kind of friendships because people are so distant it seems.

I also loved the idea of the Tea Room and also can see me as Connie Colls operating a Wash and Dry because I am just as creative.  It is refreshing to know that some people can make the best of any position they hold.  I know it drives a lot of coworkers of mine crazy because I am so  positive and refuse to let anybody steal my joy.  Thank you for recommending this book.  I look forward to other reads.  : - D
