Though I usually like to read things based more in reality, I've been intrigued by this series. Even though it is most definitely in a fictional world, I've been able to appreciate the work of the author.

I like that the vampires are so much different from the mythical vampires we usually hear about.

I like that this girl is so human and, though she is in love with a vampire, struggles with everything human. I am particularly able to connect to her inability to believe Edward loves her.

Now that I'm further along in the series I've become familiar with the werewolves as well as the vampires. I really like how these two groups contrast each other: the vampires are cool to the touch; the werewolves radiate heat; the vampires never sleep; the werewolves seem to need a lot of sleep; the vampires appear to never eat; the werewolves always appear to be starving.

And I've given some thought to how much would be different if these were not human beings and werewolves but just humans. Surely, two humans could both want the same girl. Surely, these two would be angry with each other and jealous of each other just as these two beings in the books are.

Perhaps the vampires would still be outsiders at school even if they were human, simply because of their beauty and their wealth.

One question has been in my mind while reading:
Why is Bella's the only mind Edward can't read?

Why are the Volturi's powers unable to work on Bella?


What is it about her that she is the one who learns of vampires and werewolves and has one of each fall for her?


If these answers are coming in the book, don't tell me. : )
I'm nearing the end of Eclipse right now.

Not sure why no one else answered but I was totally addicted to these books! LOVE LOVE LOVE em!!! What a guilty pleasure
Oh btw...incase ya didn't know....
U can read a draft that was leaked on the web of Stephanie's 5th book for the series called 'Midnight Sun'. She put it on her site for all to see for free. Its only a portion but she's unsure if she'll finish. It is Twilight written from the perspective of Edward. Amazing. So sad when it abruptly ended but hey...better than nothing!
These books made me HAPPY :-)........and the bazillion others I know that read them. OLD and YOUNG alike!
Go TEAM EDWARD! LOL

Still, haven't gotten to that part, Kimmie; but I'm waiting for it.

Eclipse, the third book was one that took me a while to get through. I'm on Breaking Dawn, the fourth book, right now and this one has me pretty drawn in.

I have said that I am reading these books out of curiousity ... because I heard so much about them and had to see what it was all about. I say I'm not completely "gung-ho" on them but was curious about them. I've found them intriguing though and I've started to wonder "am I becoming a gung-ho Twilight fan? Of course, after I ask myself this question I'll have someone tell me they are on their third, fourth, or fifth time reading the series and have seen the movies, etc, etc. And then I've got my answer. I'm not a Twilight freak, but am enjoying the reads anyway.

so he can't hear her thoughts because she had a shield ... and she somehow had the shield up when she was human ... okay ...

For some reason, I found Charlie's reaction to learning of Bella's change and Renesme hard to believe .... Don't know why I was able to accept the vampires and werewolves and Renesme, but found it hard to accept that Charlie learned of it and a short time later sat down to start watching a game on TV

I kind of liked this. It seemed to be the reason Jacob stayed around and took all of that abuse. I really had to laugh out loud when I read this. I actually could see it in my mind. Double take and whop he is in love.

I'm glad it had a happy ending ... almost too happy ... she got to have it all (Edward, Renesmee, her new family, her old family ...)
