WHO SAID MS ISN'T PAINFUL?
Whoever said MS isn't painful...they were wrong. My MS is painful!!! It never ends. Even when I'm sleeping muscle spasms wake me. These are the kind where you can't straighten your leg. EEK!!! I''m on muscle relaxers along with many, many other types of meds. Oh, I can't forget about the extra vitamin supplements. At times, I find it funny that you treat one symtom and something else appears.
At this point my doctors say I'm doing okay. They are encouraged by my ability to keep going. If I could only explain to them how truly fatigued I am and to keep going can be such a struggle, My disability doesn't show but the weaknesses and pain it produces does.
I look at it this way....I do what I can, rest when I need to and try to keep smiling. I know. I've heard it before. Sometimes my upbeat attitude can be sickening!!!

Permalink Reply by 911dispatcher on November 13, 2011 at 1:59pm I can totally sympathize with your pain. They have finally put me on the Butrans pain patch which has helped more than anything. It has allowed me to be able to do more things where the pain was limiting my activity. They also just published a new article in the latest Momentum magazine about pain and MS. I know there are some doctors who do not believe that pain is associated with MS. The article proves what we have been saying all along...there IS pain with MS. It was very interesting because it laid how MS affects you pain wise. If you want information on the patch let me know. I went from going to work sitting in my chair all day to coming home and sitting and taking pain pills all the time to putting on this patch and two weeks later I'm out with my son at a military summer camp parent/cadet day and I was trying to climb a telephone pole to jump off of....I didn't make it all the way I got to tired and then onto a rock wall that I climbed with some assistance and then zip lined off the top of it. Not that the patch turns you into superwoman but it has given me back some of my life with little to no pain anymore. You change them out once a week.
