29-Day Giving Challenge

I'd love to see some imaginative ideas for gifts that help lead to sustainable living.

In my yard, I grow many plants that multiply like crazy, thus giving me multiple opportunities for giving.  Some plants I've shared on freecycle this month are: lilies of the valley, feverfew, ladybells, zebra grass, spearmint, peppermint, chives, daylilies, lambs' ears, and wild geraniums.

Sometimes, instead of freecycling, I leave attractively packaged plant babies in public places for people to find and take home.  I've also been known to invite strangers to share my bounty by chalking a "Free Plants!  Just Ask--I'll Share" message on the sidewalk with an arrow pointing to the house.

Those are all great, Kris. Love the idea for recycling things for art classes. I live across the street from my old elementary school (they're in process of building a new one as I write), so I'll definitely contact them about supplies. Thanks!

The schools always take tons of my stuff-the larger cans from coffee, oatmeal, huge plain yogurt and cottage cheese containers! The I ask them for their old crayons for the turtle recsue program!

Great ideas, Sharon. I'll start sending all the containers their way. I'll also ask for the used crayon pieces to recycle into various shapes - my nieces and nephews will love them.

Love your ideas! I especially like the craft ideas...being a teacher I know how valuable all of those things can be. Thank you so much for sharing! :)
I just got a rain barrel and I'm so excited! I plan to use the collections to water my plants and fill the birdbath. :)
