Nehemiah is one of the best examples of prayer
that we have in all of the Bible. We find
him praying when just about anything happens.
He wanted God to be in control and asked for His
help regularly.
Before he appeared in front of the king,
Nehemiah asked for success in what he was going
to ask. Nehemiah had a holy mission in
mind - to return to Jerusalem and help the
people who were living there defenselessly.
It only seems appropriate to ask God for success
in a mission for Him.
We shouldn't hesitate to ask God for success in
other things in life however. There are
certainly things that we shouldn't ask God to
bless; things that are sinful or obviously
against His will. But there are many other
things that are neither good nor bad that we may
ask for success in.
For example, we may ask God for success in a
business venture. It may simply be a way
of providing for one's family and nothing sacred
but God wants us to come to Him with all kinds
of requests.
