My husband was in a near death accident, and I prayed that he be restored to full physical and mental health and then I would spend the rest of my life telling people God was really there, and I was transformed over the next two years from a Atheist/Drug addict to a recovering drug addict with a God of my understanding-which has developed over the past 19 years into a wonderful relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

Yes, Sharon - you have received powerful evidence that prayer works! Remembering these miracles often helps us when challenges seem to grow before us - remember, have faith, KNOW Thy Will will be done... thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for starting this group.
I would love to add some thoughts and reflections to this discussion;
"have you been healed, inspired, experienced miracles"?

however, the 1st thing that comes to mind -- last night,
b4 closing my email page, i sent a note to myself --
a reminder for today; the subject line reads -
"29 day gifts new group re: the healing power of prayer".

-- of course, at that time, i had No idea about "the prayer cafe" group.
last night, it was just a thought.

until, i woke this morning with an invite in my email -
saying, "go to prayer cafe".
so, i followed the message...

it affirms for me... life is good.
the power and healing of prayer is... awesome!

may the blessings be abundant
and, needs be met
Linda - this is beautiful - thank you! I think prayer is very powerful and when people join minds and hearts in prayer, only good results, no matter what results - the good in it will prevail. I am glad you found The Prayer Cafe - it was an "impulse" creation over the weekend - I guess I felt the calling from our members to form the group - so here we are!
many blessings -b

Do you pray to God or Jesus or...

I am growing in my belief - faith. That's why I would like to know how you pray.

Or reading the Bible?

Thanks

Annelies - what wonderful questions! And thank you for sharing them with us!!

If you have belief in your heart - if you have a true desire to know the God of your Being, it is enough! Every person has to come to their own understanding of the relationship between God and Jesus and themselves; however, I believe that God is all there is - and we as the offspring - the Created - of God - are part of God - we are not all that God is but all that we are is God.

Spirit is the Essence of all Created life - and I believe this is an ongoing process through evolution - I don't see a difference between the two - Creation is a process of Evolution and Evolution is a Creationary process - they have to be.

The Bible is a great resource for learning about Jesus and God through ancient writings handed down through generations at a time when literacy was reserved for select individuals. I believe that Jesus was given to us as an example of what we can accomplish by way of faith and confidence in our Creator. Evidence suggests He was a real human person; some theories indicate He is a character in a story, a parable or fable, designed to teach us lessons. Whichever way it is, He is our Way-Shower - one of the great examples in history of the power of Faith and the power of Prayer.

I pray to Spirit - the Spirit of the Creator that created all and that Is All - it is that part of me that is Greater than me. I pray not for things necessarily (although we all do pray for things), but for understanding more of how to work in harmony with the Universal Laws of Spirit - of Life - to be in harmony with the Creative Expression of God working through me now.

For example, when I pray for health for myself or another, I ask that we be brought into alignment with the True Wholeness of Spirit - the True Wholeness that we really already are but have lost sight of; becoming ill is not a punishment or bad thing put upon us by God - it simply is going out of harmony with our Truest, Purest Expression of Spirit.

It is a journey for all of us - I don't know anyone who prays perfectly all the time. There is a saying that says, "If the only prayer you ever prayed was 'Thank You' - it would be enough." This means, if we have sincere Gratitude in our hearts and offer that to God, it is enough. If you like formulated prayers (prayers already written, such as Our Father, Hail Mary, etc.), then use them thoughtfully and reflectively to see what they will say to your heart. The key is sincerity in our communication with God.

Prayer is a communication tool we have to become aware of our connection to God - it helps us align our thoughts and feelings, often guiding us into better understanding of what it is we really want. There are probably prayers you are glad you didn't have answered in the way you prayed for them (especially when praying for things such as mates, houses, jobs, etc.). Always remember that Spirit answers our prayers - in Spirit's time - not necessarily our time, so don't put time constraints on results. Offer your desires, questions, wishes, or gratitudes from your heart and then rest in silence for a while. Do not be anxious about results, and try to make prayer a daily practice rather than waiting until tragedy or urgent need strikes. Daily spiritual practice helps us keep our balance in our physical life and when hard times do come, we can meet them head on from a place of strength and faith and assurance that we will be able to meet whatever challenge lays ahead.

I hope this helps - please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with - I am sure some of the other group members will post their answers to help you come to your own conclusions.

Always retain the right to make up your own mind about things - especially when you are beginning a study such as this - there is no one and only path that is right for every person, but because we are all on the Path, we can help each other along the way, and this is a great place to start...

lovely... well said, b

i experienced harsh times five years ago, a great lose in my life. i was carried out by depression, fear and sadness; yet, everyday i prayed to God for light and guidance to take me to greener pastures... and it happened. one night i dreamt of the Trail of Santiago (Spain), and it was the beggining of  my journey to heal my inner wounds and start living again.

it doesn't matter in what you believe, the Trail of Santiago is there for everyone who wants to explore and discover the real meaning of life... you become a pilgrim of your own living and start to live with the universe in harmony and peace.

nowadays i have peace, love, compassion, joy inside me and have the commitment to share it with the world. i keep praying to God in gratitude and to keep my heart open and full of light.

if anyone is interested in this old road, i will be more than happy to help!

lots of blessings

Andrea - you are a living example of the power of Prayer and dedication to creating a better life - thank you for sharing your story! I would be interested in learning more about the old road...

Blessings to all who prayed and sent cards to my mom!  When I went to visit her in WV a week and a half ago, she was unable to get out of bed or eat from a deep depression.  I asked that you all pray for her to have strength and to send cards of encouragement if possible, and I am AMAZED at the results!

My husband and I could not bear to leave her alone in her sadness, so we brought her to NC to spend a week with us.  I cried every night having to see my mom in such pain that she couldn't get out of bed or hold a conversation.  By the end of the week, we had showered her with so much love combined with your prayers that she is now getting better!  She is back at work, she is eating more every day, and I have actually seen her SMILE!  She is tickled at the letters she has been getting, and someone even sent her a necklace that she can wear for peace and good health.

THANK YOU doesn't even begin to cover my gratefulness to all who have selflessly given their thoughts, prayers and cards to my mom.  LOVE and BLESSINGS to you all!  May you know that you have made a HUGE difference in someone's life!

i am so glad to know that your Mom is doing better! thanks for letting us know how she's doing. i will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Dawn xoxo

Thank you Dawn!  Hope you had a wonderful and blessed day today!
