Talk about passing it on. This is what a great teacher is all about. It's not just the facts but the life lessons too. Great gives. Very inspiring.

This is a gift to everyone..to your dad, your family, your dogs, yourself and Duke. I'm sure he would much prefer to be with you than in kennels. Enjoy your time with him and your comment about the blessings of furry companions is so true.

I think customised CDs are a great give. I gave one to my best friend to remid her of the time we met at University and she loved it more than the perfume and make up. I think because it represents the time and thought you have given to your…

Catch up...getting into the routine of blogging as well as giving

Just short blogs as I'm playing catch upDay 8 (Tues)I managed to make it to the supermarket and was able to donate some unwanted cat food (my cat is so fussy, will eat something one day and turn her nose up at it the next) to the local cat shelter.Day 9 (Wed)Today I gave of my time and did my voluntary duty as secretary by minuting the monthly meeting of the sports club. Can I count when I actually get around to producing the minutes for circulation as another give..I think so lol.Day 10…See More

I'm from just outside Tamworth in the Midlands. And please don't think of you writing about your gives as bragging...it's about sharing. Who knows that what you might write might help and inspire someone. And when I write about what…

Day 4, 5, 6, 7 of Round One

Day 4I'm struggling to think of a give today. Do people plan their gives or wait for it to spontaneously happen? I guess I'm not into the routine of giving yet. The only thing I can think of is that my friend popped round and I made us a cup of tea!!!Day 5I do some voluntary work for the sports club where I play rounders. I'm secretary of the main committee and do teas and coffees on a Sat morning when the juniors are playing football. For me this is an ongoing give so I'm not singling it out…See More

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment which has meant that I have focused too much on myself to the detriment of my emotional health. I need to look out at the world.
What I'd most like to receive:
A feeling I can make a difference. A direction in my life. A purpose.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Psychologies magazine
About me:
I am single and live with my deaf, old, dribbly cat Lily.
Do you agree to read and follow the 29Gifts Code of Conduct once you join our site?

Day 3

Posted on January 29, 2009 at 12:00pm 1 Comment

It was the first birthday of the son of one of my very close friends today so I visited him and his family today. He really is a blessing in my life. I do not have children of my own. But it is amazing how much I love him even though he is not related to me. I guess I love him so much because I love his mother so much. So of course I gave him presents but I also remembered his parents and took flowers and cookies for them. The last one was also a gift for me because I had taken 3 and we enjoyed… Continue

Day One and Day Two

Day One

It was my best friend's birthday today. We have been friends since we met at University in 1988. I can't believe that's 21 years. I did a mixed CD for her of the music that would remind her of those carefree days. I think she loved it more than the perfume and the make up that I bought her as well. I also babysat for her and her partner so they could go to the cinema. She was just grateful to see adult cinema (Frost/Nixon which she highly recommends) rather than the Chipmunks… Continue

Can you fall off the wagon from giving?

Posted on January 26, 2009 at 12:38pm 2 Comments

I didn't have a very good Nov and Dec and found it very difficult to look outside of myself. I'm afraid my giving was one of the things I let go off to keep going. I am still struggling but am determined to start again. I am unhappy with my life as it is and I have been wallowing and feeling there is nothing I can do. I have gradually realised life is too short and I have to make the most of the life I have whilst doing what I can to change it into the life that I want. There are lots of big… Continue
