Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
5 months ago I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia Syndrome. At this time I heard Cami's story. I thought it would be neat to do but put it on the back burner. Last night, I once again read her story in one of my magazines. I figured since I was changing my lifestyle to help improve myself and alleviate some of my symptoms from the fibro, I may as well have very positive thoughts and focus more on others than about the negative points of my syndrome.
What I'd most like to receive:
From this I hope that I can focus more on making others smile then thinking about the what ifs with my syndrome.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
the magazine body and soul
About me:
I am a 26 year old speech language pathologist who was recently married.

i know ive been slacking people...

I know I haven't been going about this the typical way but well you have to do what you have to do. This past year has been a lot about me, for the first time in my life. My entire way of life has changed. Let me explain. In June I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 26 and after 8 years with constant pain and many exams in hospitals, clinics, and doctors offices I finally became pro-active and started asking my doctor questions if I had it. Anyways, I remember crying my eyes out. One… Continue

I think I decided this would be day 11....a secret santa gift and a party

Today I took in a secret santa gift for one of the teacher's at work. A simple candle set and candle warmer but I am sure it will be nice to smell pumpkin pie! I also had a small party for another student who graduated from therapy today. We had candy, played games, and he even got a gift :). At the end he said thank you and started to cry!

stopped counting at day 8 but I know there have been a lot of days since!!

Since the time has flown by and I didn't have a chance to type down each gift I will type what I remember and tomorrow will be day 10. No big deal, the more gift days, the better.

Some of my gives were as follows;
More money in a salvation army bucket.
A card to my mom saying I loved her and couldn't wait to see her at Christmas.
A plane ticket to get home to see my family for Christmas this year.
Cleaning the living room for my husband's sanity.
Took mother-in-law shopping and taught her how t… Continue

day 9 in a different state

Today after working with the kids I had to drive 4 hours to Chicago for a work training. I wasn't too sure what my gift today would be but well, it came to me while entering the mall 1 block away from my nice hotel. The dreaded salvation army lady with the bell was outside of Home Goods, yes you all know who I am talking about. The lady herself is not dreaded but after the 50th bell ringer it tends to get a bit overwhelming and well I am sure every now and then you, like me have just ignored and… Continue

Allie, I just showed the picture of the blanket to my oldest daughter who is 35. She loved it, and got very teary. She can't wait for my husband to see it. I will show him tonight, we had company for super bowl last night. When we lost Sarah, she was 4 years old. She had an imaginary playmate named Sarah, that is how we came to that name. Thank you so much again, you will always be my bright star.

Sarah Ann's blanket is taking a while since I decided to do a very tight stitch and my hands have been not so cooperative. I am rotating blues, purples, and pinks..I plan to take a picture of it when it is done and send it to you!

I am not upset with you, Allie. Not at all. The fact that the hospital needs blankets for babies who have passed away, just really touched my heart so deeply. I think that if you take this project on, it will be the most precious gift you could ever give these families. On behalf of Sarah Ann, Thank you, and a Huge Hug from her Mommy.

Oh, and I also gave a tip even though I had food to go. I wasn't going to leave it but then changed my mind and went back in to give it to the waitress since the homeless lady outside whom I was going to give it to had already left.
