I had a wonderful time passing along an old Holly Hobby mug (which had a little quote about the importance of a good friend) to a new friend I went hiking and sledding with today (I cleaned it really well and put different teas inside because she loves tea). This new friend really brings out the kid in me and so the nostalgia of Holly Hobby seemed appropriate. Today..tucked inside cozy and warm.. I've been thinking a lot of how much I have. What abundance Mother Nature offers me and my neighbors. Stuck inside because of bad roads I wasn't able to deliver the gift I was planning to give...so I got a little package together for my husband. Yesterday, snowed in as well, I drew a picture of my son when he was little and gave it to him. - Why I'm choosing to give:
- I want to give because as I child I found giving very natural and easy--I want to tap into that child in me. I also want to step outside myself and see others. Connect. I want to give back after having been given so much by others when I was a really poor single mother on welfare. I want to rediscover the pleasure of giving because I want to not because I have to!
- What I'd most like to receive:
- Shared conversation, smiles, encouragement, someone really seeing me, heart shaped rocks, shells,--poems on pieces of paper--great quotes scribbled down--felt hearts--laughter!

- I am a novelist and essayist- who lives in Vermont. I have a wonderful life and feel extremely grateful. I love nature! I love teaching! I think developing self love and fostering this in others is the most important work you can do on the planet. Everyone has their gifts.
