After a busy weekend and knowing that the usual Monday morning rush would come all too soon, I started the day getting up 10 minutes earlier than normal and taking a leisurely cup of tea to start the day (gift to self) but then determined to start the week as peacefully as possible. Day 8 - The Birth of Baha'u'llah

Today the Baha'i community around the world are celebrating the birth of their Manifestation of God - Baha'u'llah. He was born in 1817 in Tehran, Persia.
The first gift of the day was to give my family breakfast in bed. My little one (age 5) said "I never knew you could have a picnic in your bed". It was a great way to start the day.

What a fantastic date! I am sure there was a boost of weddings around the world and I wish each couple a lifetime of happiness, patience and generosity of love to each other.

This time it was I who was on the receiving end of the gifts and for each I was grateful. The first was on the way to work, as I stepped off the metro a gentleman pointed out that my rucksack was open and assisted me in closing it (very grateful as we were in the city and my laptop was in there!). In the Bahai faith, we have no pastors or church. However we do have a responsibility to look out for each others' needs and once every 19 days we meet at someone's house for a devotional meeting where we also consult on the needs of the community and have a social gathering. We also strive to help others around us outside the faith to be able to connect with their spirituality.
