29 Gifts Mandala Framed Print by Artist Eileen Bradley: Winner is Beth

I love this print because I give endlessly to birds over the winter months. I have a bird feeder hanging from my deck and the word has spread quickly in the bird community that my yard is the place t…

The Missy Project

I read this book over the summer and just gave it to a friend at work who is going through a divorce and needs a little "magic" in her life. I can't wait to find out if she enjoyed it.

I love Good Dog Carl! I hadn't thought about that book in such a long time because my boys are almost men. I was transported back to when they were little and loved hearing that book over and over. Thanks for the gift to me!

It probably really meant a lot to him that you took the time to listen to his story. Anyone who has lost a pet knows how hard it is to lose one. Thanks for taking the time to listen and give him support.

My cats love to climb on my lap when I'm at the computer. It can be annoying but usually I end up feeling more relaxed when they sit with me for a while. Petting a cat is a gift for both cat and human!

Self gives are SO important, especially if they are difficult! As Pamela said, you need to refill the well. We are sadly taught that taking care of ourselves is 'selfish' it is not, in fact if we don't take care of ourselves we are putting a burden…

Fill up the well (so you can give to others)... sounds like you need it and sometimes it's the best we can "give"! I hope you got a massage with the manicure like they do at the nail salon I go to - that's a real luxury and one of the best things I…

It's interesting that you mentioned that it's hard to receive because I find it much easier to give than to receive. I also find it much easier to give anonymously. I haven't even shared with anyone that I've read the book or have joined this group…

Why I'm choosing to give:
I'm going through a difficult transition in my life and I'm hoping this will help me move forward with a new appreciation for the gifts in my life.
What I'd most like to receive:
A renewed sense of purpose for this next phase of my life is what I desire most. I have recently been retreating inwardly and I felt that this would help me focus on others.

Round 2- Self give, The CHI

I just finished my self give round. It was a nice way to start the new year but at times it felt like a chore. I tend to lapse into doing things for others and it opened my eyes that I need to focus a little more on self care. I focused my gives on simple things that made time for myself but I did give in to one big give I had been resisting. My CHI straightening iron broke in early December and it's the only thing that really helps me deal with my thick, unruly, wavy hair. It is the second one… Continue

Round 2 Self give-Flowing with life, not against it

Day 7- I decided to pull out a book that I purchased a few years ago but really haven't used much for a no cost self give. It's a little book with 100 five minute activities to help you stay calm and focused. I've been struggling with my relationship with my oldest son the past six months and I'm at a loss about what to do frequently. So I finally figured out after completing a meditation exercise in this book that maybe I'm trying to do too much. The purpose of the exercise was to be open to th… Continue

Round 2 Self Give- Harder than I thought it would be

I decided to do a self give round because the winter weather always gets me in a funk and I thought it would help me get through January in a better state of mind. My first gift was to buy a planner for myself. It is put out by a company in St.Louis called Daysteps and it's a combo planner, journal and health and fitness tracker. I love this gift! I'm a chronic procrastinator and so far this is really helping me stay focused. I would love to say 2010 was the year I got my act together. My 2nd gi… Continue

No time to blog over the holidays! My favorite give from this cycle.

Well something had to give and it ended up being the blog. I managed to keep giving and it was what kept me sane and focused over the holidays. So I'm going to highlight my favorite give which was Day 29, the final give for this cycle. Early in the cycle I came up with the idea for a holiday care package for the hernia patients I care for. We have a doctor who specializes in complicated cases and they come to see him from all over the midwest. It's a very painful surgery and patients generally d… Continue

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by her strength of character and spirit. In the mid-90s, she was diagnosed with MS and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been inspirational - she is thriving through giving and is hosting a Christmas Give: "Going small to make a big impact". Lubabat is our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Our Gifts to You: Download our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar to help you track your gifts and our 29Gifts Notecard to accompany them.

Happy giving!
