Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I believe that we share a universal connection to one another and because of this, share a universal responsibility to help one another.

No matter who we are, what we have, or what we do not have, every one of us has something we can "gift" to some one else. In addition, no matter who we are, what we have done or not done, or what we have, every one of us is worthy or receiving these "gifts" from eachother.

In giving these gifts we help one another and we create a positive energy flow into the universe. Others pick up on this flow and add to it, creating a snowball effect and before you know it we are in an avalanche of LOVE.

I'm in love with the world and I am here to nourish it by giving all that I can to make it a better place for all.
What I'd most like to receive:
Peace, Love & Positive Energy

A Double Give (Or Triple) In One Sweep

Last week I ordered from St. Jude Children's Hospital as a give to them and to myself. They have something called the "Hope Gift Book" and it really has some great gifts in it at reasonable prices.

I ordered a DKNY t-shirt that says "Give Thanks" in green rhinestones for $10. It's a really nice shirt and I love the message.

I also ordered a necklace that says "Hope" in rhinestones with matching earrings from the Liz Claiborne collection for $5. I love it!

Remember that all gives are significant. Just think of smiles: Smiles are a wonderful gift. Can you imagine the world without them? Most smiles are started by another smile.
Happy Giving!

When people join this challenge, I so often hear them saying "I don't think I gave anything today," "This give didn't count because it's something I would have done anyway," or "I gave very little today."
I think the most important thing for people to realize during this challenge is that EVERY "little" gift is meaningful. It doesn't matter if you were already giving that thing before and would've done it even if you hadn't joined the challenge. All that means is that you were already giving; it doesn't make the giving any less meaningful. The seemingly little things matter ... what would the world be like if nobody ever did those things? They do make a difference. Don't discount anything you give; give yourself credit for what you do. If you choose to stretch a bit and go above and beyond what you'd normally give, good for you; but it's certainly not required.
Remember that giving to yourself is important too. Without taking care of yourself, how will you give to others?

You've said you feel like you should be doing something else but aren't sure what. Has life given any clues as to what that might be yet? .... a career change, a new hobby, group, club, class, volunteer opportunity, associating with new people .... I don't know I'm just throwing things out there. I was thinking of you and your feeling of wanting to do something else, and I just know it must be so frustrating to not know what it is.

Because I am currently unable to blog (don’t ask) I’ve decided to share with some of my friends by leaving comments with what I “would have blogged.”

Oh, I was just kidding about the “don’t ask.” but the truth is I have no idea why I can’t blog (or sign out of the site or send messages). The good part is that I can still leave comments for you and participate in discussions. This happened once before. Erin was helping me try to find solutions … I tried a bunch of things, but no luck. Then all of a sudden one day (at 4am, maybe you saw that blog post) things started working again (after about a week and a half of trouble).

I meant to share this on Friday.
It was a simple "receive" I noticed ... and I'm sure I would not have noticed this and been so grateful for it if it wasn't for my experiences with this challenge.

I run a daycare; that means lots of kids, lots of meals, and lots of dishes to wash.
Often I have the kids use sporks at meal times (you know, they're like spoon/forks, spoons with tines) .... Friday's meal included applesauce though. It seems the kids are always asking for spoons to eat their applesauce in addition to the forks (or sporks) that they need to eat other things. I thought of this on Fri. but just handed out sporks ..............and nobody asked for a spoon in addition to those. I was grateful to have 10 less pieces of silverware to wash.

It's the little things that count, that bring smiles and happiness.

This Memorial Day weekend my BIG GIVE was building a fence with my brother … it was quite a project! We fenced in the backyard play area making it a little easier for me to supervise the daycare kids (and a little safer for them).

I get what you're saying ... it's not that you think you should be doing something MORE, but just that you feel like you need to be doing something DIFFERENT.

Hi, Audrey -
I'm happy to add you as a friend. I have enjoyed all your blogs, always find your writing insightful/thought-provoking...so you see blogging is not just bragging about what you've done; it's a give to me and others on this site.
I can totally relate to you being hard on yourself .... I have also always wanted to do more, give more, keep improving myself .... in some ways there's nothing wrong with always striving to be better, but there isn't something wrong with thinking what we already do is not enough. It's something I need to work on to.

Look forward to reading more from you soon.

Halfway through already; huh?
I really enjoyed your post today. I'm so glad you post ... don't think of it as bragging think of it as a "give" to those of us on here. You are insightful and it's great to read your reflections.
There was one on this site who did quit blogging because she felt like it was bragging and that she didn't need praise for giving. Something different works for everyone, I guess.
I liked what Dawn said ... about giving yourself credit for all you give and counting your work ... even if you don't blog about it/share it with others, it's important to recognize all you give; it's important to do that for yourself.
