My last few days have been spent mostly digging out of the big East Coast snow storm. I would like to say that I had kept a close handle on my gifts but most are clearing the sidewalk for neighbors to pass, cooking some fantastic split pea soup and sharing it with friends,along with some crisp French bread, digging out the back yard for my little dog----and who knows what. So here is the story that I would like to share today----the grace of a gift received.

Well today I revisited the Kiva.org website for my gift. This site gives micro-loans to people all over the world to set up or expand their small businesses with the goal of raising the standard of living for their entire family. On the 16th of each month we are given credit for all of the loan payments made in the prior month for the purpose of reloaning that amount to a new loanee. I was able to set up two new loans today and make a small donation to the non-profit that runs the organization.… Continue

Today I decided to give 3 Teddy Bear packets which are featured under causes on this site. My friend was visiting, so I grabbed her credit card and had her give 3 as well. My mother did her best to get me interested in dolls. My grandmother who was a great seamstress and knitter, made my Barbie all kinds of outfits----but my favorite toys remained my stuffed animals---so Teddy Bears make perfect sense to me!!!!!!!

OK----this is really a reach but today I found myself sitting at the dealership while my car was being serviced. Bored to death, I remembered that there was a small wine and cheese/gourmet shop I visited almost 25 years ago when I bought a small container of Tandori spice for the first time and have done the same from time to time over the years from other locations.
