My 29 Days
Day 29 - Oct. 6
Made some phone calls to help a friend who is getting evicted. Hopefully it will pay off and she won't have to move!
Day 28 - Oct. 5
Ditched my plans to clean the house and accepted my 6 year old nephews last minute invite to play all afternoon. Picked him up & brought him to my place: we colored, drew pictures, watched a movie and played football!!
Day 27 - Oct. 4
Wrote a poem for a friend and started making Love & Wonder Jars!
Day 26 - Oct. 3
Talked with a good friend who is going through a difficult time
Day 25 - Oct 2
went to lunch with best friend from 7th grade and bought her flowers & lunch since its her birthday this weekend.
Day 24 - Oct 1
Gave a stressed out co-worker an orchid to cheer her up!
Day 23 - Sept. 30
Bought lunch for a co-worker who didn't have cash on her.
Day 22 - Sept. 29
Sent an email to a friend telling her that I miss her and want to see her again soon.
Day 21 - Sept. 28
Bought tix to the Giants game for my brother, nephew and my mom. When my brother couldn't make it, gave the ticket to my mom's foreign exchange student. It was the last game of the season and we all got to run the bases on the field after the game - Sweet experience!
Day 20 - Sept. 27
Gave a nice tip to my hair dresser.
Treated my best friend to dinner - her mom passed away over the weekend.
Day 19 - Sept 26
Put extra $ in the tip jar at sandwich shop at lunch
Listened to friend who needed to talk
Day 18 - Sept 25
Discovered it is more challenging to give when I'm not feeling well -but since I was moving slow, I had a great opportunity to allow many cars to cut in front of me while I was driving! It felt good to slow down a bit.
Day 17 - Sept 24
got more sunflowers from the flower mart and gave them away to co-workers!
Day 16 - Sept 23
Met with a group of women in a recovery facility. Not sure who got more out of it, them or me!
Day 15 - Sep. 22
Enjoyed the anonymous book give so much am doing it again with an Oprah book club pick: The Good Earth.
Day 14 - Sept. 21
Met with a woman to help her work on some personal issues
Day 13 - Sept. 20
Hosted a pool party for friends and family: offered lots of good food! Whew!
Day 12 - Sept. 19
Gave to myself: Took the day off from work and allowed myself to take an afternoon nap!
Day 11 - Sept. 18
I had an extra copy of a favorite book of mine: The Secret, and thought about giving it to the receptionist at work but instead I anonymously left the copy in the ladies lounge at work so a random person could pick it up. I included a Smile. You've been tagged card inside the book. --This give didn't go as I planned-- I noticed the book at the reception desk: Someone had turned it in for the owner to recover! The receptionist was interested in the book so I let her know of my plan and told her she should keep the book! So it turns out the book ended up with the person who was meant to have it all along!!
Day 10 - Sept. 17
went downtown on my lunch hour to purchase a gift card for my godson's birthday- put a little more on the card than I might normally have since I'm doing the challenge!
Day 9 - Sept. 16
Bought lunch for 2 co-workers. One of them was kind enough to offer to pick up lunch for us since we are on a deadline so I offered to pay! Both were very grateful and I was happy to be able to give!
Day 8 - Sept. 15
Sent funny emails to friends! Happy Monday!
Day 7 - Sept. 14
Wrote a poem for friend who has been feeling depressed lately. Received joy of getting creative juices flowing!
Day 6 - Sept. 13
Hosted a meeting between my brother and his son: spent afternoon with them by my pool and fixed em dinner - also had nephew spend the night! I received so much from watching them together.
Day 5 - Sept. 12
In the office today: the Executive Director's Assistant asked me if I wanted to donate to a transit scholarship fund - since I'm in the spirit of giving, I said yes!
Day 4 - Sept. 11
Reached out to old friend who it turns out is very depressed so it was particularly gratifying to have chosen today to connect with her.
Also donated to the charity water cause of the month!
Day 3 - Sept. 10
Gave 2 co-workers bouquets of flowers from the flower market. One of them saw me cutting roses to place in a vase for my office and admired them - so I gave them to her! The other one needed a pick me up so I gave her the sunflowers!
The smiles and thanks I received made my day!
Day 2 - Sept. 9
Brought homemade cookies into work for co-workers.
Day 1 - Sept. 8
Gave a co-worker a ride home from work. That night I had a favorite dream: that I had the ability to fly! I soared through the air freely - there's a feeling of freedom & hope in that dream - I felt a sense of true promise (for the next 28 days)
