Better late than never

Well, the Chinese New Year was a full 3 weeks ago and I never managed to get back onto my blog to post the gifts for days 20 through 29.  While I did give at least one gift every day, there's no way I'm going to remember them now!  This is the 3rd year I've done the 29-gift challenge to celebrate Chinese New Year, but this is the first year that I've been too busy to keep up with the posts.  The lesson learned?  I always have time to give gifts--no matter how busy things get--just not the time…See More

Days 17, 18 & 19

Day 17:  I received a small canvas tote bag with hand cream, shampoo, and other products at a hotel a few weeks ago.  I gave the bag and all the goodies inside to a patient.Day 18:  A patient is headed off to vacation in Hawaii for 5 weeks--so jealous!--so I gave him a package of supplies from my office to help his shoulder pain while he's away.Day 19:  Every year I send my mother, who is single, flowers on Valentine's Day.  Even though it's a ways off, I put the order in while I was thinking…See More

Days 9, 10 & 11

Day 9:  A friend was listening to one of the cds in my office and said it was the most relaxing she'd ever heard--so I gave it to her.  Day 10:  One of my patients is in his early 20s and having a really tough time.  I worry about him like I would a younger brother.  There were two supplements in my office that I thought would be helpful for him, so I gave those to him at no charge.Day 11:  Waived the co-pays for two patients.  Feeling the need to do more non-financial gifts.  Will have to…See More

Days 1, 2 & 3

I'm back for the 3rd annual 29 gifts in 29 days to celebrate the Chinese New Year!  Unfortunately, I didn't check the date of the Chinese New Year until today--it's January 23rd, which means I should have started my challenge on Monday (12/26).  But, giving is giving so I'm counting gifts from Monday, yesterday & today even if I didn't realize it was for the challenge.  Starting tomorrow, the gifts will be better and more creative!Day 1:  Used my last flex ticket for the hockey games, which…See More

Days 25 & 26

Day 25:  Unpacked and settled into my office, and my friend Kristin stopped by to see the new space.  I knew she was coming so I made her a small wallet-size card with the following quote:  "The snow goose need not bathe to make itself white. Neither need you do anything but be yourself.  Lao Tzu, 4th century B.C."Day 26:  Went to the children's hospital to treat my guy S.  Stopped at Whole Foods on the way and brought S. and mom a bouquet of white tulips, kiwi and strawberry fruit salad, and…See More

Days 20, 21 & 22

Day 20:  I have season tickets to the Portland Pirates (AHL) and a lot of the people who sit around me at the games are also season-ticket holders.  On Tuesday, Day 20, I brought a bouquet of gerbera daisies to the game and gave them to the woman who sits 2 rows behind me.Day 21:  One of my patients needed to practice massage for a job interview, so I arranged for her to use one of the treatment rooms in my acupuncture practice and massage my friend, Carla.  My patient got a chance to practice,…See More
