Days 4 through 6

Despite my temporary disability (cast on my left foot, walking on crutches), my life has gotten amazingly busy!  I have been giving out home made cookies through the days, at offices I visit or to people who come to our house. What a treat for me to see the surprise and delight at receiving something thoughtfully made.  On day 5 I gave the gift of time and attention to my mom, whom I have not always gotten along with.  I spent an entire day with her... making cookies!  (that seems to be the…See More

I kept with the cookie theme as that is about all I can do right now.  But, it's so great to see the smiles on faces when I hand them a plate of home made cookies, even at holiday time.See More

Day one or four...

Yesterday I decided to start over after only three days into my giving challenge because I missed the third day.  So, I had an appt. with my orthopedist in the afternoon, supposedly to have a walking cast put on, and decided to make some cookies for the receptionists.  This is a busy, very business-like place, where interactions with the front desk are usually terse and short after waiting for a while to get up there.  I decided to gift the women who always look so harried and annoyed to see…See More

My first gift - to this community

Six years ago I was fired from my job. I was 49, single, broke and had a pretty bad attitude. I was so burnt out from the career path I had chosen that I couldn't bear the thought of finding another job in that field, so I opted for unemployment to give me time to re-think my life and path.Around the same time, two Muslim families in the city I live in were going through an ordeal that made my situation seem like a vacation. Both fathers had been targeted in an FBI sting operation and…See More

Starting Over Early

With all the best intentions to give something yesterday, I was negligent.  So, today will be a new beginning - I have yet to do my give, but my mantra for the day is "I give with gratitude."  Glad I am only 2 days in to start over.Happy Monday all -See More

Day 2 - Intention

This morning I focused on giving with intention.  I've been on crutches for a few weeks, after surgery to repair damaged ligaments in my left ankle, which has put my husband in charge of all household tasks.  We had planned to attend a concert locally this evening with tickets I won through a raffle at a Holly Near concert, but my poor husband needs a weekend free of any schedules desperately.  I decided to give my tickets to the local farmer's market as a raffle, or for two of the amazing…See More
