Day 1 - Again, again

Okay, this will be my third day one. Here we go....First things first...thanks to all for the wonderful birthday messages! What a nice surprise!!As for today's give...I have a friend who has been wonderful for watching my kids during all my medical appointments....and I have had many recently...MS Clinic, internist, GP, etc. etc. It's important to me that my kids don't come to my appointments. Day 1 - Again

Okay. I have to start over. I gave on Saturday, but then didn't on Sunday or Monday. I got sucked back into my head. As always lately, it is a health problem. So now there is MS, hypothyroidism and a third ailment that is presenting itself for an undetermined reason. Back to the doctor's on Thursday.I can't believe that I had 33 years of great health and just like that it's all fallen apart. Grrr.... Day 4

Today was a bit of a slow day. Winter weather is finally hitting us here in Southwestern Ontario so I wasn't really inclined to go out. My husband and I are both sick with head colds to boot.J (husband) actually stayed home from work today, which isn't like him. He's the type who goes to work unless his arm is dangling by a thread. Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:: Like Cami, I have MS. I received a firm diagnosis in June 2009. I am choosing to give to pull myself out of the dark place I'm in right now about this disease. Although physically I'm in a period of remission (I have relapsing-remitting MS) the disease is kicking me around in the head. I am very pre-occupied with it and my future with it (i.e. I can do xyz right now. How much longer do I have to do xyz? etc.)

What I'd most like to receive:: I'd like to receive some peace of mind. I'd like to be able to enjoy the present, without worrying about the future.

How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?: On the website about.com. Julie (who writes a blog about her experiences with MS) did a little write up about it and linked to an article. I believe the article was in the NY Times.

About me:: I am 34 (well, 35 in a couple of weeks). I am married with two children.

Today was a simple give. I still have a bad head cold and it was freeeeezing out today. I had both kids with me, and kids + winter gear is just ... argh at the best of times. Never mind when you're sick. My son also doesn't like any kind of "weather" (clearly we're raising him in the wrong place) so he would have been...especially difficult.

Every year our local fire department does a food collection for the local food bank. Each household receives a (large) paper bag. The idea is that you fill the bag with food, and the firefighters come out on a given day, street to street, with their trucks (slowly of course), sirens and all to collect them.

Typically I just throw whatever we have in the pantry (that's unwanted) into the bag. This year though we went out to the store and picked out specific items that we thought would… Continue
