Why I'm choosing to give:
During five of my 29 days of giving, I would like to offer a free copy (an autographed 1st edition) of my book Life Interrupted, It's Not All About Me, which is my true story, a self-help memoir so to speak, dealing with the stress put on a relationship as a result of life being interrupted by chronic illness or disability. My hope is to help others in similar situations avoid making the same relationship destroying mistakes that I made. It's humorous, informative, not always pretty, but it's real.
What I'd most like to receive:
I'm looking for a place to give of myself to others, a place to grow and utilize my vocation. Last Sunday my pastor shared with the congregation the difference between our occupation and our vocation. First, we must differentiate between the two. Your occupation is what you do to make money…..your job. Your vocation is a gift, a talent that you possess which you choose to utilize to please God. For example, you may be a gifted artist, singer, writer or homebuilder whatever it is, it is a gift from God that we as people turn around and utilize to please God by showing others His glorious love at work within us. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?

About me:
Hi,
My name is Chris Tatevosian, multiple sclerosis sufferer and author of the book Life Interrupted, It’s Not All About Me. Originally, the book was self-published in July 2007. The book was republished in July 2008 by Tate Publishing Enterprises LLC and is now available on their web site during this prerelease period (release date October 2008).
I have had MS since 1980. Man, I’m getting old. Although, I am happy to be able to say that, because when I was diagnosed in 1980 I thought life was over. If you think you have MS or you are newly diagnosed I recommend living your life to its fullest. I did for 18 years after the initial diagnosis. Looking back I wish I had been less stressed and anxious about the future. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t let this disease or any trial have any more control of you than it actually has. The mind games, stress, worry about the future, anger and the poor me attitude just to name a few can be overwhelming, but you have to make a conscious effort not to let the emotional side of MS determine your future.
I allowed that to happen in my first marriage, which ended in divorce after more than nine years. You see worrying about the future, things like saving for college, or where not putting enough in our IRA, or I need more life insurance etc. are some of the possible stressors that can make your life way more stressed than it should ever be. I know, I lived that disaster, been there done that. I literally made my life an open book so that others with MS or any chronic illness for that matter, could avoid making the same relationship destroying mistakes that I did. We have to think positive, stressing about the future, almost always ensures that the future you are hoping for__ never happens. If you get the chance read about my real-life story with MS, it will better shed light on what I am trying to say. After learning how big of an issue this is for so many of us with MS, I took it upon myself to write this self-help memoir. This is my real life story and it's not always pretty but it's real and written to help others going through a similar situation, this same situation or just struggling with the ups and downs of daily life to better deal, increase feelings of self-worth, learn how to relieve stress and anxiety and get your life back.

The book is titled Life Interrupted, It’s Not All About Me and it is available prior to the October 14, 2008 release date online at www.TatePublishing.com

Hi Chris,

Thanks so much for your note and for your encouraging comments. It is wonderful to hear you are concentrating on the positive aspects of life and living it to its fullest potential. I myself am working on a book celebrating the accomplishments of people with disabilities. I hope to help give parents of children who are differently-abled an uplifting perspective on the the things that are possible for our kids. It will be a collection of short stories about people who have triumphed over the physical and developmental challenges in their lives and the proceeds will fund a culinary training and employment program through the Find a Way Foundation.

The best of everything to you and your family as you continue your journey!

Take care,

Steffany
