"She was very surprised and it has been a wonderful and productive day! I've learned so much through her and this journey ... and that is to do a specific little things, versus the generic, "do you need anything?" ... these touches…"

"HI Connie, I love this. The size of a give does not matter. It is the intention behind it. I think your co-worker will be touched by your thoughtfulness. I am sure it will bring a smile to her face and warm her heart to know that someone cared. :)"

Something small that I hope makes a big difference ...

Without making this story longer than it has to be, I did something nice for my friend and co-worker who has been in treatment for an extended illness. We got new project calendars and she's been too overwhelmed to hang hers, so today I put up hers up and already put a big note on it to celebrate on the last day of her treatment! I moved her New York City artwork across the room (which was displaced due to the calendar) so she can more easily see it versus looking at a blank wall. Hope she's…See More

"I am going to get started with pottery ... I tried a demo class throwing on the wheel and loved it. Does anyone have any suggestions as I begin this new adventure? Much appreciated ... have a great day!"

"What a cool concept - that's one of the things I love about the 29 Day Giving Challenge - it introduces me to so many new venues to "pay it forward". Thanks for sharing!"

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Because I've been so very blessed in my life, I want to share and "pay it forward" to others. For me, the biggest challenge will be to give of my time and patience. I mean, who isn't busy right? I seem to run from thing, to thing ... to thing. So I want to give to others what is most precious to me - time.
What I'd most like to receive:
Nothing really ... because the unconditional way of giving is what I want to accomplish through my 29 days. But if I receive peace, discipline and greater patience and love through the exercise, wow, I'd love that! Bonus!!!
About me:
I've got a lot about me on my MySpace page if anyone is interested in "meeting" me :-)

A "Fossil" Give that Started on July 23rd ...

Posted on November 14, 2008 at 11:09am 0 Comments

She was a tough nut all right, but every time I'd visit, I'd smile and be uber polite ... and today, I went there for lunch after having been away for a few months. She was working again and she remembered me and actually smiled at me. She was pleasant! She commented on liking my Fossil wallet (it is a nice one and I've had it for years ... lots of fun colors and design to it!). I was almost speechless but managed to smile back and say thank you.

More pleasantries were exchanged, you… Continue

The ripple effect of an orange Pebble ...

Posted on August 27, 2008 at 4:55am 2 Comments

One of my favorite giving suggestions from the "Challenge" was to join FreeCycle, an online community that matches peoples needs and wants with people who have things to give away versus having them end up in a landfill. So I joined my local group. And my first "give" was my beloved orange Pebble cell phone to a local college student who had a broken phone. He showed up in a lime green VW bug so certainly was appreciative of color!

That same day, I had an extra comp ticket to the… Continue

Toe-may-toe? Toe-mah-toe?

No matter how you say it, I've been blessed with a beautiful tomato crop this year. I've shared tomatoes with my out of town mother (via my brother who stopped by to visit on Saturday and took some to her) and my physical therapist at the rehab facility. Who's next? The ladies at the barn ... neighbors ... and then comes the salsa!

Hope everyone is having a great giving Tuesday!

I gave my son a fresh start ... and tough love ...

Wow, this 29-day giving challenge has been so cathartic for me (hope I'm spelling that right!). I had a chance to speak with my son about our "issue" ... actually it wasn't speaking at all, but rather confrontational from my end. I had previously drawn my line in the sand about house rules, and he broke the "mother" of all rules, and he knew the consequence. It was just one of those things that plays out a certain way and in hindsight you wish there were other ways it could have been handled.… Continue

Hi Connie,
I'm so glad you are having great weather there - I went to the zoo today - sometimes we had to run for cover as the rain fell, but we had a great time anyway. Going to have a take-away for supper - we're at a friend's house - what better place to be?
Big hug for you.

BTW, Lawrenceville is Northeast of Atlanta and Douglasville is west of the city. They're both in the Atlanta area, but on opposite sides.
