i am generally a pretty giving person, but i want to become more aware of my actions and their effects on both me and the world.

About me:
i am a 49 YO female who lives in East TX. i have three children, two stepchildren, and nine grandchildren altogether. in a couple of months i will be a "great grandma" believe it or not! i am an avid reader and i love to make quilts.

i envision a world where people will reach out to each other instead of building walls. i believe that the world is moving rapidly towards that ideal and i want to do my part. one person at a time, it will happen.

what a great day!

i drove to Beaumont today to fill out some paperwork for my new job. i am really excited about it! it is a part time job, at our local thrift store. the store raises funds to support the battered women and children's shelters here in Southeast Texas which are sponsored through Family Services. i love that i will not only be earning some much needed money but i will also be doing my part to help victims of domestic violence. i have wanted to help in that area for a long time.

Monday and Tuesday in Texas

Woo Hoo! it's snowing outside, big juicy flakes! i'm sure that some of you are wondering what the big deal is, but we don't get much snow in our part of Texas. this is the third time this winter, which is more than it snowed in the previous 15 years since i moved here. so i consider it a gift from Heaven :~D

Welcoming Kayden!

we got a call today saying that my granddaughter Heather was at the hospital in labor. we got our stuff together to go to the hospital. it is her first baby so we figured it would be a long wait. we stopped at the Army Surplus store on the way there. i bought a camouflage onesie for the baby there. we live in the country and the baby's nursery theme is camouflage and John Deere :~D

you know how John Lennon said "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"? it seems to work that way for giving, too. i will have all these grand ideas for gives that i never get around to, and i get really down on myself. then i realize that i have been giving, just not in the ways i thought i would/should.
