giving is letting go

Ok, so this is really going to sound like a strange thing to a lot of you, I'm sure. My give today was my hardest give yet. It really wasn't even mine to give. It began a few weeks ago, my 7 year old daughter who has never had her hair cut, walked into my room, ready to give an announcement. "Mom," she said, "I want to cut my hair and give it to Locs-of-Love." My heart sank, as I smiled and said what a wonderful idea that was! I said things like, "Let's talk about it," and "We'll have to wait… Continue

Peanut Butter Cups

Our church theme this week was "What if... people SERVE" I filled a bag with Recess Peanut Butter Cups tied with ribbon and a tag that read, "Thank you for serving God and building His Kingdom. May He fill your "Cup" with blessing today." I handed them out to people who were serving in church ministries Sunday morning.

not even thinking about it

Todays give was quite an accident. My daughter asked for some money to go get some lunch with her friends. I was a little preoccupied and couldn't find any cash, so I handed her my credit card, with a mumbled "don't lose it." Upon the return of her and her entourage, all her friends came in saying, "Thanks, mom for the pizza!"

Serving Up Appreciation

Posted on October 14, 2008 at 6:00am 0 Comments

This month is the official Pastors Appreciation Month. My family and a few friends, put together an "Appreciation Day" for our church Pastors, Staff, and their families. It was an awsome day. The weather was perfect, great food, fellowship, and games all day long. And we got to see the competitive side of our Pastors during a "friendly" volleyball game. It was tons of fun serving, appreciating, and giving to those who give to us on a regular basis.

i love the dinner wheel menu you described on my page. that's pretty funny as well as deliciously creative. i used to live a place in Atlanta where we did weekly organic, vegan pot lucks that lots of people came to. and the one i remember is when we decided to make it only purple foods. purple potatoes, cabagge, and such. was so much more fun.
