Asking a question and listening to the answer

Dec 3/Day 2 One of my co-workers is working on her doctoral degree in nursing. Yesterday I stopped by her office and asked her how it is going. I sat down, and listened. It was beautiful to observe the passion in her face as she told me she just found out that she passed "comps" and was meeting with the dean next week to discuss the rest of the process. She went on to describe the coming seminars, an article she is working on, and her proposed research project. guess it is the teacher in me,…See More

I'm Back! Just in time for the December Giving Challenge: Gifting Outside the Box Month

I just re-visited the site today, for the first time in months. I thought of it as a suggestion for a friend who is going through a difficult financial time. Then I read through some forums, my old blog posts, and decided I should start a new 29-day challenge myself.Dec 2 / Day 1 - Mailed a sympathy note to one of the women in my belly dancing class. She is an only child, unmarried with no children, and she just lost her mother. I don't know her well, but was struck by how lonely she must feel.…See More

Interesting discussion. I started this book on Kindle a few weeks ago and have had a hard time getting into it. The beginning is a lot of descriptive language and kinda dull. I will keep plugging away.

It's great that you are receiving ... if nobody would receive nobody would be able to give :) We all deserve to be the receiver instead of the giver sometimes. So nice of your parents to help out. Sounds like you really gave to your husband by…

An abundance of help!

Lately it feels like I have been receiving more than giving, and I accept it with gratitude. I have been on Spring Break for the last week and my son had made plans with me to come and help me with household projects. His plans fell through, and he couldn't get off work. I was immensely disappointed, for about half a day. Then I decided that I would accept it, because that was the way it is, and something good would come out of it. Well, my wonderful parents - ages 60 and 62 - came over to my…See More

This morning I was writing in my journal and reviewing my intentions for yesterday. I did make it to the library and donated the audio book that I had been carrying around in the car. I also did some other gives that I had not planned. I gave an aloe vera plant to my housekeeper. She was admiring my plants and I had recently split and repotted the aloe, so I just spontaneously told her to choose one. She thanked me graciously, and it almost embarassed me, because the gift was so minor to… Continue

If there are any books that you recommend ...
well, I'm always looking for good reading material (not that I should be, I already have plenty that I want to read)
