13 Post - MLK Day

Posted on January 19, 2009 at 4:44pm 0 Comments

Today is the MLK Holiday. Our facility is closed but our boss asked half of us to volunteer to come in to work. I volunteered because some of the girls could not drop their children off at day care because the day care centers were closed today too. It worked out well for me too. The phones were quiet and I got caught up on some odds and ends laying on my desk. I entered into our computer system any orders or quotes that came over the fax machine or were called in. Therefore, the girls can all… Continue

12th Blog - Planning a visit with the Aunts

Posted on January 17, 2009 at 12:30pm 1 Comment

It is too cold today for a Floridian. My snowbird aunts have arrived from up North and we are planning on spending the day with them tomorrow. I am baking a cake to bring down to their winter condo which is two hours south of where we live. It's a good thing to have family from back home come visit us in Florida. I miss everyone from back home and I love it when any of them come south for the winter. I look forward to Aunt Rosebud's visit every year. She is one of a few aunts that I have left… Continue

11th Post - The Continuing Curtain Saga

Posted on January 16, 2009 at 7:30pm 2 Comments

Yippee! I mostly finshed getting all the curtains and I also picked up some curtain rods too. I did not know if they had the hardware to hang up all the curtains. I went a little over my budget but I got so involved with the project that I wanted to do things right. I truly hope that the family and Pastor Wallace like the color choices I made for the curtains. Libby liked the colors I chose; sea foam green for the two living room and one bay window, camel for the three bedrooms, and blue teacups… Continue

Post #10 - The Curtains Part III

Posted on January 15, 2009 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

Well, this has tuned out to be an on-going saga! By the time I bought the material to make the curtains, it was cheaper to just buy them. Plus, Pastor Wallace wants to get the family moved in by this weekend. I shopped online at work to find the best deal and curtains that would work for some of these odd -sized windows. I decided to go to Walmart during my lunch hour and Target on my way home from work.

You all have to understand how much I hate to shop.I am a one-stop shopper due… Continue

9th Post - The Curtains Part II

Posted on January 14, 2009 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

Oh, Oh! I do not have enough material to make curtains for all the windows in Pastor Wallace's trailer. So, I decided that I need to shop around for material in order to make enough curtains for all the windows. I can't afford to spend a lot of money because I am on such a tight budget. My creative juices are flowing and I'm also thinking about cutting up sheets or shower curtains so that I can get this project finished. Even though my original plan isn't working out, I'm actually having fun… Continue
