Why I'm choosing to give:
I want to encourage myself to give every day, not just when it's convenient for me.
What I'd most like to receive:
The knowledge that I've inspired at least one other person to give more of themselves more often.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I think it was on www.thelastsinglegirlintheworld.com
About me:
I live in San Francisco, CA and am a fairly recent transplant from Birmingham, AL. Trying to figure out myself while I figure out life in a big city.

Days 18-23

Posted on December 23, 2008 at 2:16pm 1 Comment

Well, I figured I should catch up on things since I'm about to leave for Christmas and will already have a stack of giving to update you on for Days 24-28...which means I'll only be one day away from finishing!

Day 18: Today I sent a book to one of my close friends. She just got engaged and is beyond excited, but is already starting to feel the pressure of planning a destination wedding. I ordered her The Knot's guide to destination weddings. I hope she likes it!

Day 17: A donation per click

Posted on December 17, 2008 at 4:34pm 1 Comment

The gift I chose for today was easy and anyone can/should do it! You can visit www.goodsearch.com and every time you search, a charity of your choice earns approximately 1 cent. Granted, that's not a lot of money...but when you think about how many times per day you go to google or yahoo to search for something, and multiply that by how many people use GoodSearch, that can really add up to a lot of money for a charity! GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo! search and provides the exact same… Continue

Day 16: A phone call

Posted on December 17, 2008 at 4:25pm 1 Comment

My sweet, tenderhearted sister turned 32 yesterday! My gift for the day was a phone call to wish her a happy birthday and just catch up with her. I think she really appreciated the phone call...she and her 17-month-old have colds, and as she is pregnant and due again January 7, she can't take any medication for it. She had managed to have a wonderful birthday, anyway, and we got to talk about how exciting Christmas will be. I haven't spent a Christmas with her in probably 9 or 10 years, so this… Continue

Days 11-15

Posted on December 15, 2008 at 12:13pm 2 Comments

Apparently I am wretched at writing over the weekends. :) Anyway, moving right along, here are my gives for the last several days:

Day 11: Not a huge day, but I did take some time and chatted with my mom when she called. She wanted to tell me a few new jokes she had and some cute things my niece had done. Megan also made a donation to Jesse's Place in my name, so I'm halfway counting that!!!

Day 12: The Salvation Army alawys makes it easy to give if you haven't done… Continue

Day 10: Cookie run

Posted on December 11, 2008 at 5:02pm 2 Comments

Yesterday afternoon was day 10 and I have to admit I only "halfway" gave something. We had a new employee start on Monday in our fairly small office and I know it can be intimidating to come into an environment where everyone seems to know each other so well. I asked this employee if she wanted to go around the corner and get a hot chocolate chip cookie, partially because I thought it would be a fun, quick afternoon break and partially because I have a bad sweet tooth...especially when the… Continue
