What a doozie...


Today I gave 2 pizzas to my coworkers, who all missed lunch due to an emergency c-section and subsequent multiple-puppy CPR. See, while the doctor does the emergency surgery, he passes off puppies one by one to the nurses (aka veterinary technicians*) as soon as they are out, and the nurses begin itty bitty CPR and a fast rubbing motion as well as constant warmth because the anesthesia stops the puppies from breathing in utero. I am going to write some more snail mail tonight before I go to bed and call that my gift. This round has not been happy for me. I am overwhelmed and tired, like in my soul. Kimmie is right, that if I can't do it in the spirit in which it is intended, I shouldn't do it. But I also recognize it as probably the one thing that is keeping me from completely withdrawing into my own head, so I will press on. Day 14 (Friday): Made dinner for Bill - pasta fajoule soup with Italian chicken sausage, zucchini and summer squash, served with and three-cheese rosemary foccacia bread.


Day 15 (Saturday): Lots and lots of deliberate smiles to strangers. Also photographed the inside of a bar for Bill to give his story board illustrator. Also set up and photographed another one of his trees, for an eventual catalog, as well as taking some shots of a giant rubber duck. Don't ask...

Stopped for a sandwich tonight (haven't bought groceries in weeks...all that's in the fridge is generic Slim Fast shakes...and not surprisingly, that is not what I wanted for dinner!) and stumbled upon some tasty-looking lowfat potato chip type snacks, so I got 4 bags - all different flavors - for Jenn and I. She always brings me snacks, so I figured it was about time I returned the favor.

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Initially, it was because Erin Monahan, someone who I love and respect tremendously, was involved. Then I just decided it was a good thing to do. I keep thinking of the quote, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." (Mahatma Gandhi) I believe in reciprocity and balance and the power of positive thought. I have always been a giver, because it makes *me* feel good. Now I want to do it with a greater purpose in mind, and consistently. So I am here. :-)
What I'd most like to receive:
Peace of mind and a good night's sleep. But if that's not enough, I would also like to one day (in the not too distant future) have a nice home with the man I love (instead of living in separate, meager places.)
