I'm into my first round of giving and into the second week. To be fair I've decided to not count the days as I realise it's a lifetime thing for me now. I was chatting to my Father in law over dinner yesterday who is a healer and volunteer at the local church and is a good mentor. I was telling him about 29 gifts - he laughed and said what a great idea, and he'd been doing it for 40 years and only wished more people understood. He pointed out that the giving turns into a perpetual state and… Continue

Are you new? Here's some giving ideas

When I first joined this site I wanted to read about what other people were giving to get an idea what was going down. They were really helpful in the inspiration stakes. So, in the last few days I have sold some raffle tickets in aid of my daughter's nursery and whatever I sold I doubled and posted it through their door. I put some books on amazon for a friend who is skint to generate some income for her. Drove to see another friend on my day off when I should've been doing domestics at home… Continue

I'm entering my second week giving and I am amazed at how easy it all is. Some days I'll end up giving more than one thing - it's just a mindset that you get into. My latest gives have been buying two disney castles for my daughter from a charity shop. They were broken but my husband fixed them and put new batteries in and to see her little face with her new toys was priceless. I also went into a new therapy centre yesterday to book my pregnant friend a massage as a "give" treat for her. I got… Continue

First week gives - Hilarious outcomes

I gave a friend a new lip salve yesterday as her lips were dry. She text me today to say she was in a store

trying on some shoes for a party. The zip got stuck on them and she started to get hot and a bit panicky. She

remembered the lip salve in her bag and rubbed it on the zipper and it came unstuck. How great is that!

Been doing this a week now and the gives excluding my previous blog include phoning an elderly neighbour who's been unwell, spending time with my 3 year old in… Continue

First seven days of giving

Well, I'm into my first seven days of giving.

I have given away a range of things from posting secret clothing items into ebay clothes sales - so people get a nice suprise! I bought my mum a book she always wanted, gave a friend a gift of lip gloss, gave my time today as a volunteer in a charity health spa for the terminally ill, helped a mother up some stairs with her pram and child.

Already I had a great suprise yesterday. A friend called to thank me for a birthday card… Continue

Hi Gail,
I'm only on Day 2 and am enjoing reading all the posts. Yesterday was my friend's 40th birthday and I gave her a book. I would have given her a present anyway, but took extra time choosing something I thought she'd really enjoy, and wrapping it up extra carefully. I have two sons, and miss the frilly bits in life so I was surprised how much fun it is adding bows and stuff! I also gave a sticker to the naughtiest boy in my class because he sat beautifully in the Christingle service in church. My reward was an enormous smile!
I spent four very happy years at college in Ripon in the 80's so it was lovely to find you online. Is it snowy up there? I miss Yorkshire like mad, having grown up in Pudsey.
It's interesting to read you are a counsellor. I had my last sesion with my counsellor on Monday after two years. She has helped me through the illness and death of my mum, as well as lots of other 'stuff', and doing this challenge is my way of moving onwards and upwards. It's time to give something back.
My 29 days will be up on New Years Eve and we'll see what happens after that.
Good luck with your giving.

Hi Gail, I love your "gives", I've found it difficult in the main to give something which doesn't cost in monetary terms and then I read blogs like this and realise I'm maybe thinking too hard! The simple things are right before my eyes. Thanks for the "lightbulb moment".

Gail,
A great big "Hey!" from Woodstock, Ga, USA! I am so happy we have so many givers from all over the world! Thanks for joining at such an exciting time! I am on the 28th day in the 6th round of 29 days. I hope you have the wonderful experience here that I have!

We did a "give" in Atlanta a few months ago and gave away 100 roses on a sidewalk, it was 9 members from the metro ATL area, we started a "local" group, and you can start or join one too!
Make friends, read blogs, write blogs and leave other folks comments! Post pics and videos, join inner groups and GIVE! Have fun and watch for miracles to happen in your life when you do 29 in 29! Hope to see you around in the site!
