You're really getting the hang of this challenge. It is the mindful, conscious giving that makes the challenge so much fun and so rewarding for the givers and the givees. I love what you're doing. Have you read 29 Gifts yet. I didn't read it until I…

That was a great give. I think sometime people ignore deaf people more than other disabled people because they think they can't communicate. Nice job for your first day.

Why I'm choosing to give:
Because I believe that we can never give enough. There is so much need in the world that to ever feel as if, "Well, I've given my share", is selfish. Of course, we all have limitations to what we can give, but I like to ask, "What else can I give? Even if it's only a smile to someone who looks out of sorts.
What I'd most like to receive:
I lack for nothing really. What I most would like to see is more people taking this challenge.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
My daughter
About me:
I am a 61 year old real estate agent and Yoga teacher who believes that "Service is the rent we pay for living." I am currently organizing a second annual fundraiser for our local food bank. The only reason that I would ever like to be rich is so that I could devote my life full time to service and giving.

Day 3 Happy Birthday To Ya, Happy Birthday.....

Oops! I forgot to blog yesterday. But I didn't forget my giving. My friend Barbara's birthday was yesterday. I am notoriously bad about birthdays and usually never remember any of my friend's birthdays. They usually remember mine. Admittedly Facebook is a big help nowadays.

Barbara and I go way back to our activist days more than 30 years ago. We were both strong supporters of a Martin Luther King holiday back in the day. So yesterday I sent her, via Facebook, the song "Happy Birthday" by Stevi… Continue

Day 1 Modest Needs

Happy New Year everyone! I decided to start the challenge again on January 1, 2010. The last decade has been a particularly difficult one for the US and world. The image of the US has been tarnished and the financial stability of the world has been greatly jeopardized. I am absolutely sure that we have learned some valuable lessons and that 2010 will be a great improvement and the coming decade will see a major shift towards a better world.

So I want to begin the year and the decade similarly t… Continue

Day 29 A Small But Hopefully Meaningful Gift

Well, Day 29 has come and gone. On my last day-- yesterday--my 2 gifts were reminicent of my my earliest days of the challenge, in that I wanted to get beyond the technology. I love the technology that has brought me together with so many givers. I was simultaneously doing 30 Days of Gratitude online. So I do appreciate how technology can bring me together with so many wonderful people from so many distant places.

Two aquaintances of mine both lost fathers last week. These women are not close f… Continue
