On Wednesday, March 3rd, I will be turning 30 (scary, I know). I am wanting to conduct a little experiment based on the book “29 Gifts”. They say, “A month of giving can change your life”. But instead of 29 gifts in 30 days, I want perform 30 acts of kindness all on the day of my 30th birthday. I want to have a whole day planned with acts of kindness. And I plan to include friends and family. So invites have been sent out. Whether they make one act with me or we spend the day together, anything will be appreciated.
If they not able to join me in person, then I hope they feel free to perform their own acts of kindness (such as those included on this list). Then they can let me know, whether via text message, phone call, Facebook, what they did to brighten someone’s day on my birthday.
If you might be able to join me on March 3rd, let me know, and post what you did on this day. I hope to make this a fun day, one that I can share with friends and family, doing something good (no matter how small).
Giving ideas to try:
1. Donate to an online charity
www.redcross.org/Donate to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti
http://www.womenforwomen.org/ http://www.wfp.org/WFP reached just over 102 million beneficiaries in 78 countries with 3.9 million tons of food. Since our organization is completely reliant on voluntary donations, WFP could not provide this food without the generosity of our donors.
http://www.chemoangels.net/Chemo Angels is a program dedicated to supporting people with cancer. In addition to providing helpful information and cancer related resources, we match patients who are going through the difficult time of chemotherapy with "Angels". The function of these Angels is - through little notes, cards and occasional small gifts - to bring a bit of cheer and encouragement.
