I helped my brother's fiance with her resume/job application today. I took the time to do that and then worked on one last Christmas present for a friend of mine. I made a cosmetic bag for her.

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I am choosing to give purposefully and mindfully so that I can make a difference to others.
What I'd most like to receive:
I don't know what I would like to receive most...but I would most like to have a sense of peace and serenity in my heart and home.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I heard about it briefly in an article...promptly forgot about it, and saw the book on the shelf at the bookstore and knew I needed to buy it.
About me:
I am living a life filled with challenges, including multiple sclerosis. I was in a very, very sad spot and felt hopeless and alone. I decided that I needed to do something very different before my world crumbled further. I am going to school to learn fundraising skills and grant writing, in hopes that I can give back to the wonderful nonprofit organizations that have helped my family throughout my lifetime.

Day 22--my give was letting my son spend a little bit extra (okay a lot extra) time playing video games while I was working from home. It helped both of us ;)

Day 23--I made a turkey dinner and broke out two bottles of wine I had been saving for a special occasion. It was nice. Family and friends to enjoy time with on the 1st day of the new year. Also let my son help me make cupcakes instead of doing it myself. He enjoyed helping and they were really, really good.

Joy, I've just met you through your first three blogs. As Deb says, take each day as it comes. This is a favourite blessing I've sent out before and was thankful to receive back just a short while ago.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.

Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I thought this was a fabulous idea when I heard about it. I am also struggling with a life with MS and trying to change my perspective. I feel like I sank to a place that was so low, the only direction to go is up. I love giving gifts and do so on a regular basis (probably nearly daily); however, I am just looking forward to making this a very mindful endeavor for me.

Oh, and I also gave a tip even though I had food to go. I wasn't going to leave it but then changed my mind and went back in to give it to the waitress since the homeless lady outside whom I was going to give it to had already left.
