Why I'm choosing to give:
Abundance in all things breeds abundance in all things!

I love the look on someone's face when they realize they are being given something just "because". I like letting people know that their worth as a human being is innate and is not relegated to measuring up to "the ideal" in beauty, finances, popularity, intelligence, productivity, or ___insert idea of perfection here___. Progress, not perfection!
What I'd most like to receive:
A sense of abundance and love for myself and for others in the world. Serenity. Happiness. Lightness of being. Yeah, that's corny, but true! In physical terms I'd love to have the capital to start an affordable sober community (healthy foods - no sugar - in proper amounts) after-care community residence for women with eating disorders, much like Sober Living Environments exist for recovering alcoholics.

ok, well I have given stuff over the past weeks but it is just easier to start again in the present. I am letting go of that "not good enough" paralyzing fear of not doing it every day PERFECTLY! I am gettin back up on the horse... giddy-up!

So yesterday Friday the 26th of September let's seeeeee what I gave...

• smiles and friendly conversation to strangers.

• an inspiring share on the 4th step at the friday night pitch meeting. talked about the fear of "not being… Continue

12th sept... that was friday... crap i knew i shoulda been doing this on a daily basis... i can't really remember... well i went to the fri night oa meeting and shared my experience strength and hope - pitched for meetings and fellowship. oh then I let a quasi-homeless friend sleep over my house on the couch who needed a place to crash. He didn't have any money so I gave him 5 bux the next mornin for breakfast. He hit on me but I didn't go there, which felt like an esteemable action, as I have… Continue

day 3 of giving

Still loving this challenge!

Today I gave my friend Spencer the 29 gifts card (you can download and print) and a gift of hardly used Bulgari cologne that a not-so-nice guy left in a bag of mine once-upon-a-time. It's a really nice cologne and Spencer liked it, or at least he graciously accepted it! ;-) I also gave him a card that let him know that he means a lot to me as a friend.

What I received was a great hug and time with a good friend! Not to mention the good news… Continue

day 2 of giving

I love this challenge!

Yesterday, day 2, I gave out hugs, smiles, and a listening ear to an older woman from NY on the bus who had been plagued by respiratory problems after 9/11. Ironic that today is 9/11. I told her about how Chinese medicine could probably help with at least some of her symptoms if not get to the root of the imbalance.

I bought a bday card for the guy I recently started dating because I can't remember when his bday is so I figured I'd just get him a… Continue

day one of giving

Posted on September 11, 2008 at 1:59pm 0 Comments

I just signed up during the day today and today is almost over and I have so far given 3 hugs, shared my experience, strength and hope at a meeting, and painted on these cardboard pieces "29gifts.org" and "giving every day" and "ABUNDANCE" and a Smiley face. Someone was just on the corner with cardboard and paints letting everyone paint what they wanted. It's ARTIVISM... art activism :-)

I am not actually on the raw food diet but have been thinking about it. I basically want to eat healthier with more fruits and vegetables and less processed foods. I am adding more raw nuts, fruits and vegetables. I have had some success with it but also with adding warmer foods when I needed to- I tend toward coldness type illnesses. I was not really suited to the winter climate in the Northern US, but then I had cronic sinus infections and asthma from the dairy allergy. I am trying to gather some sound knowledge and let my body be my guide as to what is best for it. One thing that did help was adding iodine suppliments (kelp). I had a severe deficiency and this was causing my endo pain to be a lot worse. I think the best thing for me would be to find a tcm practice in my area. Have a great day!

Thanks fo answering back so quickly. Unfortunately, they did a laproscopy and I do have it for sure. Some they cleared out but now it has been 2 years and the pain is back. The pill made it worse actually and I had a severe reaction to Luprin (spelling?) I was hoping better nutrition and tcm would be more helpful. With love and appreciation- Sabriyah

Hello and welcome. It looks like we joined about the same time. I love what you wrote about our innate worth as humans and your goal to have a healing center for women ith eating disorders. It is really needed. How many women turn to drugs, alcohol, or food (sugar) because they feel that they don't measure up? It is very sad that our world puts so much pressure on women (and men!). I am also interested in Chinese medicine, but am not really a student. What do you recommend for endometriosis? Also I am trying to eat healthier, get sugar out of my diet. What do you recommend as a good first step. I already have cut out dairy (allergic) and artificial sweeteners.
