Hello everyone in the 29 gifts community! I stumbled across this and as seems to be the way when you start giving, it hit me as an excellent cause and way to give. I live in Colorado in the Denver area. We have two schools for deaf children in the area and one is in dire need of an updated facility. They have received funding but need to raise $2 million before October of this year (2011) to solidify the funding. That seems like quite a bit; at least it does to me. I struggled with myself about joining the 29 gift challenge. My life is so terribly full that I was worried I was stacking yet another straw upon the camel’s back; and perhaps this would be the last one. - Why I'm choosing to give:
- I have found that I am too focused upon myself. This could be the result of many things that have happened in my life including a chronic illness that has been challenging for a number of years, a joyous leap into a new life of marriage (the second time around), and, as all of us have, too much to do focusing on raising two boys while having a career and attempting to exceed at everything. I am forgetting the important things and not connecting with the people that are most important to me.

Day 3: The Truth Hurts

I was headed home from an unplanned stop to a store at which I purchased some necessary kitchen items and a few unnecessary items that caught my eye. I made sure I bought the unnecessaries from my “personal” account. My new husband and I are saving up for some needed updates to the house. This is easy for him; he’s the saver. Day 2: Down Time

As simple as the gift was on the first day, the second day proved more challenging. As usual, my life was full of one appointment after another. Work was non-stop meetings with barely a breath in between. It became apparent how not-present I was at lunch. I ran down the hall to lunch room and the microwave. I discovered that the first microwave had something in it. The food’s owner was not hovering and wasn’t in the lunch room at all. I quickly turned to the second microwave, popped in my food… Continue
