That's a very original and fun idea! I love looking at cards when I just need a break. Maybe I'll try that next time myself!

It seems like a LOT of my gifts involve cleaning! For myself or others. I think the physical act of cleaning has a benefit, but it's the spiritual gift of a clear space for your eyes and your mind are the real present. See you tomorrow

"He makes a grave mistake who does not give at all because he can only give a little." So never think of your gifts as "weak". No gift is ever too small. Every act of giving is a hundred times better than no gift at all! Keep up…

Fifth and Sixth Days - Candy bars and a Veterans Day gift

Oops! Had to put these two days into one post. Yesterday I gave my students each a candy bar for learning their Science vocabulary words for a test coming up on Wednesday...Today my students each made a video containing their Veteran's Day greetings to a soldier in Iraq. My students are, for the most part, immigrants to the US, and they shared their pride in America and their gratitude for the soldiers' sacrifices on their behalf. I think it's a gift that will be meaningful to this young man,…See More

All wonderful gifts! I'm from Calif. and I'm always cold too so that hoodie was a great gift! I especially love your idea of providing help for animals. I click on a reminder I receive in my email box every day from Animal Rescue to donate…

The memories you just awoke! I LOVE that coffee cake and used to beg my mom to make it. Some of my best memories are of the times spent in the kitchen or at the table with my mom and grandma. The sense of smell is the strongest sense we humans have…

Twelfth Day

Posted on November 16, 2009 at 9:41pm 0 Comments

As I was driving home I saw a high school student I didn't know get off the school bus just has the heavens opened and a deluge started. He pulled his hoodie over his head and started trudging toward our neighborhood. I pulled up and asked if he'd like a ride and after a second he got in. It turned out he had to walk about half a mile from the bus stop to his house, and he would have been soaked to the skin so I'm glad I stopped. Reflection: It is getting easier to notice and follow through on… Continue

Eleventh day

Even tho' my daughter and I had had an argument, I wanted to give her something so I had the seafood department at the grocery store cook her favorite salmon with teriyaki sauce and drove to her friend's house where she's been staying and dropped it off.

Tenth Day

A little thing, but it's all I can remember from Saturday. When I walked by the tennis court there were tennis balls in the adjacent parking lot, so I took them to the dad and his daughter who were playing on the court so they wouldn't have to stop playing to collect them. Let the lady behind me in the grocery line go ahead since she only had a few items and I had a basketful. She seemed really grateful. Maybe she was in a hurry.

Ninth day

Tonight my husband and I had a friend over for dinner who doesn't like to eat alone. He appreciated the food, but even more he loves having someone to talk to during a meal. So do we!!

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
