Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Lately I've been feeling very ... I dunno ... I've been having a big pity party. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I have asthma, I'm just recovering from pneumonia ... I need to learn to let go of what I can't control.
What I'd most like to receive:
More peace and contentment in my life. And more thankfulness.

About me:
I was born and raised very close to Boston. But after spending almost 20 years in rural New Hampshire I grew to love and appreciate the wonder and beauty of nature.

My interest in Reiki grew out of a desperate search for relief from the pain of repetitive motion injury and fibromyalgia. I was guided to the website of my Reiki Master Teacher, Beth Johnson-Crawford, and the rest, as they say, is history. Someday soon I hope to open my own practice.

Some adjectives people have used to describe me include eclectic, hard-working, kind, caring, bitchy, dork, silly and many, many more.

I am a single mother of three amazing adult children. These remarkable people, along with their stupendous spouses and significant others, have bestowed on me the most breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and intelligent grandchildren on the planet. Six of them to be exact, the oldest is my only grandson, and he's getting sick of having girls for cousins. Am I lucky or what?!

In my non-work time, you can usually find me at home, either knitting or crocheting, or at a local yarn shop, groping the yarn and drooling.

Take 2 ... Day 5 Give

Today's gift is to everyone who lives with me. This includes my 30 year old daughter, Donna, her 8 year old daughter, Julie, my 26 year old daughter-in-law, Katie, and her three daughters, 3 year old Alex, 2 year old Emily, and 8 month old Olivia. Oh! And our 3 kitties, Chloe, Sassy, and Gracie.

I have decided to clean out cupboards and closets and freecycle what I can and dispose of what can't be used by someone else. This way there will be more room for everyone else and their… Continue

I decided to do something nice for myself today, so today's give was to me. I've been saying for a month now that I want to start a walking program so that eventually I can try to get into running. Well, today I walked. I live in a circular development and it's about a quarter mile around the circle. I went 4 times around the circle, so I'm guessing I walked about a mile. Put my 2 year old granddaughter Emily in the stroller, and my 8 year old granddaughter Julie hopped onto her Razor scooter,… Continue

Take 2 ... Day 3 Give

Of all the people I work with, there is one who particularly rubs me the wrong way. She's a "throw you under the bus" type of person, and I have a difficult time working with her. When a problem is found, I'd rather work toward fixing it and preventing another occurrence in the future, rather than waste energy pointing fingers.

Today she wanted to speak with me about one of my staff members, so I steeled myself for a session of "you did this wrong." True to form, she jumped right into… Continue

Take 2 ... Day 2 Give

I work in the graduate admission office of a prominent east coast university. I decided today to try and educate some of our work study students and the younger members of our staff about the dangers of sun exposure.

A few weeks ago my dermatologist found a spot on my face, near my left ear that warranted a biopsy. It came back positive for squamous cell carcinoma. This is my second instance of skin cancer, the first being basal cell about 10 years ago.

I had the surgery on… Continue
