Day 11--Painting Pumpkins

Posted on October 15, 2008 at 4:25am 4 Comments

Today I treated my class to another special day. I do not celebrate Halloween in my classroom, but I still do some fall activities with them. So, I brought in small pumpkins for each of the children to paint. It was a fabulous day!

Day 10--A new baby

Posted on October 14, 2008 at 5:59am 1 Comment

One of my students had a new baby sister recently, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do some giving..

I just love the little gowns for babies. No snaps, easy diaper changing, and cozy too. I also love to tye*dye, so I can add some color and character to each of the items. (this isn't the one that I gave to new baby Anna, but it's a similar style only in…

Day 9--An evening of giving

Posted on October 13, 2008 at 5:08am 2 Comments

Each year my church hosts an October Supper. We all get together and serve a huge yummy meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, noodles, corn, green beans, salads, desserts and oh so much more. It's a lot of hard work, but Jamie and I always look forward to helping out.

From 3:00 until 7:00 I was a waitress for our church dinner. It was such an enjoyable evening chatting and catching up with people I haven't seen in years (or perhaps since our last October Supper) I served drinks, cleaned… Continue

We put aside work, phones, computer, and other obligations yesterday and made it all about Eli and Ella Brown. We spent the entire day with the kids at Hubers http://www.joehubers.com/

I’m not completely satisfied in this being a real give….after all parenting is about days like this and this didn’t require much effort. Spending time with our children is something Jamie and I look forward to and it was not a “challenge” by any means. However, it was a special day just for our family,… Continue

Day 7--A brand new pencil!

Posted on October 10, 2008 at 12:53pm 2 Comments

Today I decided my give was going to be all about my first graders.

I started off their morning with a fresh new pencil on their desk with a nice sharpened point and a never been used eraser!!! Oooo I wish you could have been here to see their excitement. I had 20 smiling faces, and I heard things like….

“Look on your desk”

“We have new pencils”

“Mrs. Brown gave us a present”

I told them about our special event planned for next week…Painting Pumpkins!!!!!!!… Continue
